I'm a discus thrower and I was just wondering.. Is it not really important? Its mostly kinda heavy people.. so I thought maybe it was people who were out of shape in athletics . True? I hope not cuz im pretty good at it =]

Hi have a 800m race on monday is good to eat before the race.?

If it's important to YOU, then it's important period. Stop worrying about what other people look at- and honestly, what a great situation to be in that you AREN'T heavy and you can stand out and shine as the in shape, successful one! Track is a combination all events. Shot put is just as important as high jump, pole vault, the running events, etc. You don't see out of shape athletes on TV competing in throwin discs! You can get a scholarship if you're really good! You can win the meets being really good! Set the standard and be the role model as the best there is! Your points matter in the meet just as much as anyone elses!

Good luck and stick to it!

Does Nike make one of those trackers for the iPod video yet?

Well it depends. There are probably some people who only do discus because they want to do a sport but don't feel like running. Then there are people like you, who are in shape, who work very hard, and make discus throwing important! It's an oly,pic sport, after all!

Has any one tried the nike+ipod thing without nike shoes and how has tht worked?

Throwing the discus or the shot put is very important. It is an Olympic event and it is a good way to score points in a track competition.

Should I support (paid) my friend to go in a fun run.?

yeah, alot of shot/disc throwers are just people who are out of shape... but if you look at the best shot/disc throwers, they train hard to be good and are just as much athletes as runners

Petite running tights / clothing?

at my school, the shot put and discus throwers were usually big football players who wanted a spring sport to stay in shape. they were in great physical shape, but just werent built for running.

yes, its important. points from those events go to determine who wins a track meet.

Who can give advice on Track?

It may be that way in high school but the top discus throwers in the world/olympics are power lifters, have great agility, (have you seen them spin) to throw that discus, they have to go through many rounds(sometimes hrs, needing muscle endurance) to get the winner. I have seen discus throwers do workouts longer and harder than mine when I was an olympian and can chase down a sprinter(not beat them but get a good run out of it)
It is mostly heavy people but it's mostly people with more muscle than fat. On my high school team I do not look for the fat kids I look for the extremely tall, heavy muscled kids who can handle pressure, that can withstand a 2hr workout with running, lifting and throwing in the same workout(not too many fat kids can do that)

Is 7.35 a good mile time for a 5th grader?

I ran division 1 track in college and let me tell you, if it weren't for the throwers on the team, we would have sucked. They were our top point scorers on both the mens and womens teams. We totaly relied on them. They are definitely atheletes. I'm athletic, but I coudn't do it!
