Does running long distance on flat surface built bigger calf muscle?
This is not an easy question to answer. Basically, the question is, what is the longest distance that a person ran continuously (without stopping). Although ultramarathons can go for 100 miles, 1000 miles, and beyond, the runners are allowed breaks for snacks, (ahem) other bodily functions, and sleep. I would imagine that it is hard to follow someone for many kilometers to make sure that they do not take at least some type of break.I looked and looked on the web. It seems easier to find what the longest distance someone ran carrying a 4.5 kg brick. In fact, I wanted to give up and give you my first guess: Forrest Gump.
Here is what I came up with:
The record for the greatest distance traveled on a treadmill in 24 hours is 153.76 miles (247.45 km) and was set by Christopher Bergland (USA) at Kiehl's, New York City, USA on 29–30 April 2004.
If you notice, the 247.45 km mark is higher than the 72 km distance you cited. I am not sure who you are referring to, but I believe Mr. Bergland wins by quite a lot.
My hat goes off to you, Mr. Bergland. Bravo!
