Track and Field Drills?
I'm a middle school 300m female hurdler, and I really want to get my time down. Right now, after 2 meets, I'm at a 59. I'm looking for any kind of speed drills or hurdle drills. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Answers:
First 3, Last 3: Description:
- The first three hurdles and the last three hurdles are setup on the marks. The race distance is run using these hurdle settings.
Run 3 to 5 of these to build strength.
First 6: Description:
- The first six hurdles are setup on the marks. The first six hurdle are then ran at race pace to build rhythm.
Run 5 to 7 of these to build rhythm and strength.
Last 3: Description:
- The last three hurdles are setup on the marks, this is used for 300 hurdle training to build strength.
Run 3 to 5 of these to build strength.
Walking shoes vs. running shoes?
put wieghts on ur legs and jump around to build ur calf musclesdo ABC's and leg kicks. also go on the fence and try to get the hurdle and kick your leg over the hurdle like you would be doing in a race
What I would do is ask a sports trainer. There is one at this site who ran track in college I would ask them.Good luck.

There's a drill call "ladders" that helps build speed and endurance. Basically you start by running a 400m - at full sprint, ...then walk for 30-40 seconds, and then run 300m at full speed.then walk again for 30 seconds, and then run 200m sprint..repeat 30 second walk once done...finally fun 100m at full speed.then reverse...the drill...but this time, after the 100m run, walk for a full minute, then run a 400m full sprint...repeat drill as first described, but in reverse order, with the 1 minute rest/walk between runs.
