Running tips?


any tips on how i can run for a longer time would be helpful. the maximum time i can run is about 4 miles in 30 minutes. my goal is to run for an hour. any tips would help. thanx

If you goal is to go longer slow down a little. If you have been running consistently 3 to 5 times per week for over a month then you should be able to increase your distance 25% without too much pain. Running sub 8 minute miles is good, but if you want to run longer distances run a little slower until you are conditioned to run the longer distance. You do not have to run the same speed every day. You feel better or worse some days, so just run the way you feel. So you should be able to run 5 miles now, and after a month move up to 6 miles. You do not have to run the same distance every day either. You can run longer one day a week. Be sure to take off at least one day per week, do not run 7 days a week.

I am currently running a half marathon at comfortable pace and would like to know if my normal (more inside)?

Just keep practicing. Run a little longer each day and make sure you have the right shoes. That helps a ton. And stay hydrated!

Is the shuttle run test scored by how many back and forth runs you do? Or time?

Build up to longer and longer times. Eat very healthy, your body will need every bit of energy to run for an hour. No bad carbs that will give you a sugar "hangover".
Also, for a bit of fun, Run with music. Motavating music that will keep you going when your most need it.
When you do plan to run your hour, make sure its a route that you can't give up on, like an out and back or start an hour from your house so thats the only way to get home.
