Tendonitis?

I'm 15, on my high's school's track team, and hadn't done track in 5 years. The past 3 weeks have been brutal because I was so out of shape, but instead of getting faster I was getting slower, and my knees hurt like hell. I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, and what I thought was osgood-schlatter was really tendonitis. I think it's only in my right knee, but my left one hurts a little, too. I start physical therapy on tuesday. How long do you think I'll be out? Am I gonna miss the whole season? I'm a sprinter and a jumper, so i obviously can't do those without risking a tendon tear.

Running question!!?

I have tendonitis in my right arm- I'm only 20! It sounds really pathetic, but its actually from crocheting too much. (I need to get out more.) My doctor told me there isn't any way to make it heal faster.. the only method is time. If you're in tons of pain, you may miss the whole season. You're better off not taking the chance.

Hi its me agin im 14 i just ran my race and won the 400mdash in 66seconds and im a girl is that good?

I had tendonitis during my senior year (XC) and missed 3-4 weeks of meets, but I kept training lightly and was able to not lose that much (training-wise). Your PT will likely consist of leg lifts and leg curls (light weight - lots of repetitions). Do these faithfully and the added muscle strength in your legs will take some of the burden off of your tendon. Good luck. Don't be afraid of a few weeks of rest and PT...you'll likely come back stronger! See the link below on this & other injuries. Good luck.

Track is better then CC?

why don't you just ask your doctor?

Are any of you going to run the 2007 MIAMI MARATHON.?

I was a sprinter and battled tendonitis in my right knee. In order to fully heal, you will have to miss the whole season, but you can run through the pain. I did and don't regret it a bit. By the way, tendonitis is just inflamation of where your tendons attach to bones, and it usually causes soreness, but a tendon tearing from it is extremely rare.

Any good book for marathon beginner?

I have chronic Achilles tendonitis in my left heel due to severing the tendon back in 1998. I've found that after a year or two of annoyance you learn to run through the pain and it just becomes a bother and then you barely even feel it. Also I've learned the benefits of a good stretch, a good ice and a good anti-inflammatory!

Ask your PT how long you'll be out, they can give you the best estimate based on your injury. Just be lucky you're going to heal, I'm stuck with this stupid post-injury aftermath forever!

Good luck!
