I'm a 100m Sprinter... what is the best way to increase my speed and knock off a second on my time?

If you can... please give me tips on running..the 200m, triple jump, and long jump.

How do i get faster?

100m/200m - work on your block-starts. tinker with the settings until you find a position that when you raise up for the"set" you will feel your foot flat against the blocks. practicing your starts will shave off 0.1-0.3 seconds off of your time

- lifting weights and doing exercises such as squats will help with speed. most importantly is that you have to sprint to get faster. your sprint training must be at 100% of your speed in order to increase it.

triple/long jump - for triple remember to not take out your first hop too much otherwise you may not be able to handle another lift off from that hard landing. all 3 phases fo the triple jump should be relatively even in distance.

- for long jump, weight workouts are key to success, as well as do plyometric exercises to increase the power in your legs
- practice your run up to the line so that it is consistent everytime. take some practice jumps from different lengths to see if your approach is too short (thus not getting enough time to build up speed) or too long (you become tired and slow down)
- as you get closer to the takeoff board you want your strides to be slightly smaller so that your centre of gravity is higher (making you jump higher and further). Also, when your foot hits the board you will need to use extra force on your push to convert your speed into a jump. if you dont give the extra effort you will glide across the pit but will gain barely any height in your jump, thus making it amuch shorter distance.

hope this is helpful

What are some tips for preparing for and running at my Middle school`s track meet?

Get better at getting out of the starting blocks. Practice it over and over and over. In the 100, the start determines the whole race.

In the 200 the blocks are as important, but stamina is an issue as well. Work on aerobics and breathing to be able to go twices as far. However, I wouldn't recommend doing the 100 and the 200. Unless one of them is a relay it is too much effort in too short a time.

I never did the triple jump. It's silly.

The long jump is all about timing, form, and explosive calf muscles. Hit the gym and then practice form slowly to get your launch point perfect and then build speed.

get out of the starting block fast, work on your abs and your muscles, etc..
basically, hit the weight room at least 3 times a week.. i believe that should try and knock a second off of your time
