Pre or bannister??
if you had to pick a runner would u pick steve prefontaine or roger bannister??..dont just say pre because u dont know who bannister is.
Answers:
Sir Bannister was not a "runner", he just ran. To him it started as a proving ground, something he was good at that other people were't. He didn't actually consider a future in running, nor did he persue one. He concentrated more on getting his doctorate in neuro-medicine than breaking the 4 minute mile. That was secondary to what really mattered to him. He was and is a selfless and humble man and it is fitting that he was the one to be the first to break the record instead of Landy.
Therefore, as I stated before, it is impossible to choose between them because they are in leagues of their own. If you force me, however, I would choose Bannister because he wasn't a runner, he just ran.
~I think that a lot of people are saying Pre without knowledge of Bannister despite your warning.
~How can you say Pre was more exciting to watch, did you ever see Bannister run? I think it is more exciting for a race to come down to the finish sprint (Bannister) than someone winning easy by leading the whole race (Pre).
Prefontaine.
How do i improve my 400 meter time?
preDefinetly Pre because he inspired so many people to run further than they thought possible.
London marathon - how can i get in this year?
Bannister.. he was an aviator, who pushed himself through the limit. Broke the 4 minute barrier on a crappy day.Hard to pick considering the fact that they specialized in different events.
neither one...

Track Competition!! QUESTION!?
Both runners are very inspiring, but I would have to say Pre because the way he ran his races, out front and pushing it to the end 100%. Bannister was the first to break the 4 minute mile barrier but prefontaine held every world record from the 2,000m to the 10,000m when he diedYou are comparing apples to oranges. Pre was a great runner and a personality that inspired many people. Bannister did something that the experts said could not be done. It seems ridiculous now, but at the time the scientists said it was humanly impossible to run under 4:00 for the mile. So he went where no one had ever gone before, when most people said no one could get there.
Can you become a faster runner if you keep running on a treadmill?
I would have to say pre because watching without limits really inspired me during my high school running career and I still recommend the movie to my athletes that I coach today. How can I improve my 10 km mark, from 54 min to under 50 minutes?
Prefontaine by a long shot...Although Roger Bannister achieved the first 4 minute mile...Pre was so much more exciting to watch.cannot really compared the two. Bannister was a mid distance runner to the core dreading anything than a mile. Rarley did he ever compete in anything longer than the mile and when he did it usualy was to help chattway. Prefontaine was a more distance runner mostly staying 3k and up.
Pre I would say was more versitile and was faster than Bannister.
Mentally though I think I have to give Bannister was a a better runner doing most of his training without a coach and having the fortitude for breaking through 4 flat
Both were amazing but I think Pre inspired more people to run. What a crapolicious job ESPN did in the movie about Roger Bannister, '4 Mile'. That movie could of been done so much better!
It's like Steve Reeves and Jack Lalanne in fitness. Steve Reeves was amazing no doubt in my mind, but Jack Lalanne inspired many more people to be fit.
Who make a record by runing non-stop 72km in marathon race recently?
Pre...the dvd is sitting on my shelf. lolWhy pick? They were both great runners, along with many others.
i'd have to go with pre he was like the american rockstar to running..but bannister comes in a close second.
