Do you think this is fair?
I'm a sophomore in high school and I do track—mid distance and high jump. I come to practice a little late every Monday because I have piano lessons, and my coaches know this and they are completely okay with this. Last Monday I came to practice after my lessons, went to the bathroom, warmed up, and stretched. I came at the point where we were doing five 300's as a workout, and they were on the last one so I joined in and did it, and when I was done my coach made me keep going because I hadn’t finished, so I was like okay fine I’ll do them by myself. By the time I finished the third one I had to get a drink because it was so hot and I didn't have any water, so I went down to the school to fill up my water bottle. When I got there I looked at the clock and saw that it was 4:25 and practice ends at about 4:15, and on Mondays I have to make sure to leave right on time because my sister has gymnastics and I'll make her late if I don't

What is a good time for a 100 meter dash?
i feel for you. it may sound unfair to you but its the coaches call i guess. i think the coach would prefer someone who s more "dedicated"(?) b/c that person shows up to practice every day on timeOpen sore on achilles tendon from running.?
I think that he was a complete JERK! And it was extremely unfair. You need to talk to the coach. I understand that students have lots of obligations that interfere with practice. If they have a reasonable excuse, like piano on Monday, and have to leave at a certain time, because of car pool or whatever, I don't have a problem. You should tell him the problems, and that you want to compete your work out. We discuss all of the time elements before the season. That way I know which students have tutoring after class on which days and will be late on those days, and we are not allowed to practice one minute after 6 on any day, so on the days they are late they can not stay after practice and finish. I think he should understand your problems and listen to your explanation. It is his team and you are a team member so you have to follow his decision and not complain to him or the other members or coaches.
Sore knees; what can I do to continue running?
well its his decision but im sure he could of offered an alternative . yes you was late and you didnt quite do what was required and then even though you left after every one you still left early because you didnt finish what was asked.hope things get a little better for you . maybe you can change piano lessons to a later time or to a day you dont have practice on.
I want to get started on running but I don't know how.?
Sheesh that was a long one...I can see both sides of this issue. It seams like you are doing the best you can to be there.
Put yourself in the other girls shoe's though... I think the coach made an OK choice. this one can go either way really, because to the other athletes, they are there on time, and see you come late, and they dont think about the other circumstances making you late/leave early.
It does not matter that you have an "excuse" to them.
Your coach is probably thinking that you aren't putting the rest of the team as a high priority. I'm not saying that's your deal, but from a coaches standpoint, that's what it looks like. Your coach is probably looking for people who will make the team their first priority and that's probably why he picked the other girl to jump.
Don't worry about the university thing. You are a sophmore, work really hard and you can do it next year.
well its really hard to judge when you only hear one side of the story. maybe your coach noticed all the negatives and forgot about your contributions to the team (a lot of ppl do that sometimes) personally i think that is unfair but it is a coaches decision. just let it go for now, you'll get to go next year and avoid an unneccessary confrontation with your coach. stick it out and show him that he made the wrong choice by choosing the other girl over you.
Questions about joining track?
No, the decision is not fair, but it is a good lesson. Unfortunately, life often isn't fair. Here's what I would do to "get even" with the coach. I would come to practice and work really hard. If you can stay late on some days to make up for the time missed, do so. Even stay late on the days that you don't miss. The coach will see you are working extra hard and likely regret his decision to pull you from the event.Best songs to have in your i-pod for running?
PHEW! Okay. Look at it this way. He sounds like a hard core coach and in his world track is the only thing that exists. You not being there- regardless if it's a valid reason or not, doesn't matter to him. You had to realize that when you're on a team, you have to be committed and be there on time. I totally understand that you have piano lessons, but everyone has something else and you just have to make it work so you are there, or, the next girl who IS there the entire time and working with the team will replace you.Is it fair? In a sense, yes. All the other teammates respect each other by being on time and working togethe- that's being a team. You can't be given a pass to be late every Monday while everyone else has to be there You just need to make it work. Re-prioritize things and if you can't give your all to something perhaps you should cut a few things from your schedule.
Best of luck. I'm only being truthful.
Can you wash the ipod nano armband?
No, I do not think it is fair.It sounds, however, like your main problem is your loaded schedule. I can sympathize, I'm an overloaded sophomore runner as well. Realize that sometimes things may come between you and running your best, but you have chosen those priorities for a reason. There's not much you could have done, and not much you can do if your coach isn't willing to talk about it. Coaches can be like that; it's their job.
What time is it recommented to run in the morning ..??
No I don't think that that was fair. You should have a 3 strikes and your out warning!Just talk to im, its the only way to sort this out!
How did Bill Bowerman make his track shoes?
I think you are finally feeling the effects of multi-tasking.Purhaps, your coach doesn't like your not so complete dedication to your event.
It's really your coach's call, although you could try to convive him, that is if you are truely talented in your event.
I'm sure he would want to lose a higher placing body.
What are Tempo Runs? Time Trials?
aaah, get over it, kid. things happen like that sometimes. as for the coach,1. he didn't know about your schedule
2. he just made you a better runner.
To begin with, I would have brought my water bottle with me filled with water. I would also have asked the coach beforehand to come up with a different training schedule for me, so that I could run the five 300s on another day, given that I am pressed for time on Mondays.
This would be proactive, and the coaches would appreciate this.
Also, try to shorten the time in the bathroom warming up and stretching on Mondays. I know it is necessary for a good workout, but you would get on the field a lot sooner.
What would be a good title for my paper?
No, it sounds like my gymnastics coaches...they think that they can just do that to people...I'm sorry!!TOTALLY UNFAIR
