Answers:

My track coach says if i lose more weight ill run faster?

high jump: Never did it, sorry. All the other high jumpers told me that form is key though.

long jump: Run fast as you approach. The key is to jump high, not out. The higher you jump the further room you have to go. Flail your arms, do whatever for extra momentum.

400: Perfect your stride. Get a good stride and a hard pace going for most of the race. Start to kick it in near the end.

4x1: The hand off is the most important. Get used to the person who is handing off to you. Work with him/her and get it perfect. When you take off lean a bit forward for momentum and pump your arms and kick your legs hard, drive it in.

Discus: Sorry never did that. But the throwers all tell me form is key as well.

Mile: Once again, get a good stride. Keep a nice hard pace and pick it up around the last lap. Sprint in at the 100m just like the 400.

Mile relay?: By "& relay" I am assuming you mean the 4x4, or mile relay. Well for that get the hand off down just like the 4x1. Its important to get your steps down on this and judge when your partner is coming in so you can get your run started for the hand off. When you get the baton run it like a 400. Unless, your behind you might want to pick it up a bit.

The only advice I can give you would be on the 4x100 meter relay and the 400m.

4x100: this isn't just up to you, it's up to everyone else on your relay team. You all need to make sure you have good form and that you're all quick...100 meters isn't long. The most important part of a short distance relay like this is the hand-offs...they have to be perfect!! When it comes down to a great 4x100 meter relay team they are speedy and their hand-offs are flawless. Practice your hand-offs everyday, make sure they're perfect!

400m: I never really ran this event until my last year in high school, but i ran it at about every meet! I'm not really sure if you're having a hard time keeping your speed and endurance up during the 400 (most people do) but if you are something you can do is just try running some longer distances at practice. For example, maybe run a ladder consisting of a 400, 600, 800, 600, 400 or something along those lines. Doing those longer distances will make the 400 seem not so long. When it comes to how to run the 400 I would say you should spilt it up into 4 sections. Your first 100 meters should be very quick...you want a good start out of the blocks to get yourself ahead. Then on the next 100 meter (the first straight away) you should get yourself into a fast stride, don't slow down alot, just pace yourself because we all know running a 400m all out is almost impossible. When you hit that 200m mark you need to speed it back up again...get to your full speed. If you can i would say sprint the rest of the race (200m) all out, but if you can't...just speed up at that 200m mark and then once you hit the last straight away...you go all out!

Good Luck, I hope I helped!

This is a question for all experianced runners that have maybe gone throgh something like this before.?

I'm apart of a 4X100 on my team and as every else has said hand off is the key. But the only way that it can be successful is learning how to communicate with everyone else on your relay. The sprinters on my team have a strong bond and this gives keeps us all on the same page as a whole team.

As for long jump, you have to get your approach right and pop off the board with power. If you learned in physics newtons law then you'll understand why you have to attack the board.
