Finishing A Marathon?

I dabble in running but have recentley gotten bitten by the running bug. Right now I can run 20 minutes without stopping and cover about 2.3 miles or somedays I jog 4 minutes walk 1.5 for 40 or 50 minutes. Would it be possible to train to finish a marathon by October 28th using a run jog walk meathod?

What is a good running shoes/spikes store?

Most marathon training programs *recommend* that you be able to comfortably run about 3-5 miles before joining their program. If your goal is just to finish, I personally know many people who were able to comfortably run far less and still train for and finish a marathon in 5-6 months. I believe that is squarely within in your timeframe.

The key is to gradually increase your mileage until you reach your goal. There are plenty of marathon training groups out there, and I am sure there is one in your area. These groups will provide you with a training plan, knowledge of all the pitfalls, and an active support group to keep you going when your "running bug" starts to dwindle.

Given this much time, most people are able to finish a marathon running all the way, but if you feel more comfortable jogging or walking part of the way, that's the way you should go.

When you cross the finish line, I promise you that it will be awesome. There is no feeling quite like doing 26.2 miles, and I am sure you will not regret it if you go for it.

Are u tierd of running?

train I'm doing the Chicago Marathon (first one) and my dad told run tell your comfortable with the mileage. For example say if you wanted to run six miles run that amount of miles till your comfortable with it and the go up a mile or two and do the same thing my best method is run and in the middle run and the final block sprint the heck out of it then walk around to bring heart rate down

What shoe replaced New Balance's 765?

Yes, you can! Suggest that you get Jeff Galloway's Book on marathon traning at a book store or a local library. He has an 18-20 week plan to finish a marathon comfortably using the run and walking method. Hey, if Oprah can do it; so can You...

Motivation issues?

definitely!
right now, you are in better than average shape. most americans cant even do 2 miles without stopping. and you've given yourself plenty of time to train. you need a minimum of 18 - 20 weeks to get ready for a marathon, and you have that and more. just work on building your endurance, and increasing your milage and duration every week.

What is average time 2 jog a mile in for a 12 year old who weighs 114 -125?

There are many great running sites out there including Hal Higdon and Jeff Galloway where you can find training programs for all levels. While I applaud your new passion I would ask that you take some time and build your base up before you start any marathon program. I would recommend running a 10K race or a ½ marathon race for your first race.

Both Jeff Galloway and John Stanton both recommend a walk/run for races. First before thinking about a marathon, you need to have a weekly base or at least 30 – 35Km. Really does not matter about speed because we are only concerned about running and distance. If you can run 10K comfortably without stopping I say you are ready for a marathon.

When I train for the long run, I use a 10:1 ratio of running:walk. The reason for this is that at 10 minutes you start to reach the Lactic acid threshold, by walking 1 minute this helps flush the Lactic Acid from your muscles thus extended your ability to go further distances.

I only use this once per week on Sunday’s when I run the big runs over 10K, Rest of week I run without walking. In my opinion even through you have about 5 months to a marathon, I would look at aiming for a ½ in the fall and then in December start looking for a spring marathon.
