I need to learn how to run long distances?

Use a good cormfortable pair of running shoes. There are running shoes that athletes use, but these are not all that comfortable. But the race is 400 meters so you just have to wear them for about a minute or two.

Keep you asthma under control before the race, and after as well. Do not say in sweaty clothes after the race. Use a jaket or change your clothes.

Practice some deep breathing exercises. Like yoga exercises.

Do light training the day before the race.

Whats your fastest mile?

There are clearly two choices in this situation. One, you choose to run the race and face the challenges of your medical condition and the pain in your feet. The second is that you decide to not run the race because you find these challenges are too great and that running is not truly rewarding for you. I was a former long-distance runner in high school, so in the first scenario I recommend getting appropriate running sneakers to help your feet, and doing adequate warm-up exercises to make sure your lungs are operating at their full capacity. In the second scenario, I would suggest at least making an attempt to find a replacement runner and at the very least explaining the problem and providing documentation of your medical condition from your doctor.

What is "dipping"?

If you're 10, asthmatic, and your feet hurt, there are a few things you need to do. First of all, have your asthma under control. I'm sure you already know how to do this, and you probably know better than me. Secondly, you should invest in a pair of shoes that do not hurt your feet. Track shoes will hurt your feet until you wear them for a couple hours or so but they really help with the sprinting. And at your age, you will want to take it easy in the beginning and run just as fast as you can when you feel you have the energy to finish in a sprint. Usually around the last 150m or so.

A general sprinting tip: Keep your arms at right angles pumping hard in time with your feet and sprint on your toes, not your heels. This makes you a lot faster because it saves time. Good luck, and have fun. The 400 is a very demanding but rewarding event, and very fun!

How should I train for Cross-Country?

nothing should get in your way of sucess. go for it, and try your best. only then, the rest doesn't matter. asthma is not an obstacle it's a challenge. my friend has asthma and she's one of the top runners in track. good luck.

Does heavy Workout in treadmill harm our body, specially knees and legs ?

I know a lot of really good runners with asthma, if you know how to controll it then it won't be much of an obstacle. For your feet, I agree you should get better shoes, but the 400 is not a long race so it will be over before you know it.

Normally, I would recommend sprinting the entire race, but at ten that simply is not possible. You should run fast but do not sprint until you are close enough to the finish that you can make it. I will warn you that the 400 is, with the 800, one of the most difficult and painful races to run. However, it is probably the most fun race if you get to the point where you can sprint the whole way, which is not even that hard if you work at it over time.
