I recently took up running. i can run about a quater of a mile then my lungs can't take it anymore..?
i just started this week so im assuming this is normal but i just wanted some advice if it wasn't.

I also disagree with an 8-minute mile being reasonable for a beginner. Maybe for a guy but not for a woman, especially if she hasn't done very much exercise in her life until now. I feel a10 to12 minute mile may be a more acheivable goal but I wouldn't worry about that until you can continuously run for 20 minutes or more. Again, focus on endurance now, speed later.
Good luck with your running! I hope you keep it up!
Can anyone recommend a good website for long jumping?
start out running very slow. try to find a comfortable pace if you can. also make sure you stretch properly before and after. do not try to make large jumps in the distance you run. it should be a gradual increase. what you are experiencing is normal. one thing that could hep a lot is if you find someone to run with you.Even for a rookie, a quarter mile seems too short. My first thought would be that you aren't pacing yourself properly. Make sure you know your distances and use a stopwatch. For someone just starting, an 8 minute mile would be reasonable, so it should take around 2 minutes for that quarter mile. Of course your age and physical condition come into play here too. If you're overweight you have to build up distance slowly.
it's normal if you just started and are on really bad shape. make sure that when you run, don't start off too fast, try going in a steady pace without stopping. as you practice more, your endurane will build up. you might want to start running a mile everyday trying your best. it's okay if at first you jogg then build your speed. try not to walk. good luck.
Eating habits for athlete, HELP?
Well, it will get better with time and some honest training. If you run a quarter mile each day, you will never get anywhere. Slowly increase your distance and constantly push yourself to limits you have never experienced before. Once you force yourself to run a little farther than you have ever done before, it will seem in your mind more possible and will get easier and easier, not to mention the physical stamina you will be building up. you are completely right that it is normal to be tired when you first start running, but you will get better and you will be able to run further.
