Running? Or Machines?
Do you think that running is more effective than cardio machines? & why??
Answers:
but if you have to do a machine, treadmills are the worst. you get less of a workout than actually running the distance, and more pounding on your feet and knees.
the best cardio machines work out your entire body, not just your legs. Like a rowing machine or cross country ski machine. you'll actually burn more calories here than just running, and with less impact. bikes are OK, if done right.
Depends on what kind of results you want. If you want something really extreme my fiance does this work out called P99X or something like that. It's like 10 different work outs and you do a different work out each time. It basically works out different areas of your body and you even do yoga. It's very extreme though and requires you to eat a healthy diet to see better results as well. It's not for someone who is really out of shape! Like myself. lol...
How can i make myself a better and faster cross country runner?
yes i do be cause you get more exercise by runningDoes anyone have running advice for beginners?
Treadmills are not actually worse for your body than running outside. It is the exact same exercise, with the exact same benefits. I trained for a marathon this winter primarily on treadmills and it actually improved my time substantially. You do pound more on your joints on a treadmill, however, so you should run outside a few times a week too.As for other cardio machines, they offer many of the same cardiovascular benefits as running. Many are low impact so they take away the pounding of running, which is why many runners use the elliptical or bike to cross train. Its good to do a variety of workouts to keep your muscles from tiring out.
