Foods to eat for track?

Depending on the speed you are running you may run on the balls of your feet, or flat footed. Do not land on your heels. If you are running easy then land mostly flat and roll off the front of your foot. The foot should contact the ground under you, and not in front of you. Running is mostly a pushing action and not a pulling action. Relax.

you should never run and land on your heel! that is how you get shin splints. Walking is for landing on your heel. when you run, you want to run in a fluid motion, so everything is even, balanced and straight. You should run directly flat, or moreso on the pads of your feet. Running on the balls of your feet is alright, certainly better than running on your heels, but it is used when sprinting.

Pole vaulting?

Well if you do track they specifically teach you to run on the balls of your feet because it does make you run faster. What happens is, when you are on the balls of your feet, it is much easier to lose balance so your body will try to catch itself with the other feet and the cycle continues. Also, if you are on the balls of your feet, you can push off your foot with the entire force of your leg as compared to running flat footed. You can run faster then running on the balls of your feet if you know how to run naturally. Try to run with your shoes on the balls of your feet and compare it to your speed running bare footed. More then likely, running barefooted will win and if you can figure how to run barefooted with shoes on, then you have it made.

well if ur a sprinter, people say to run on the balls of your foot, but if u watch sprinters, their heel hits too. sprinters are suposed to run OFF the balls of their foot, meaning that they are to push off harder with them.

Distance runners are supposed to run on the balls of their foot, but their foot is supposed to be more flat. so its like landing flat footed but the balls of your foot should hit a fraction of a second first.

Is this a good time to run a mile for a 7th grade girl in her first week of track??

It's better to run on the balls of your feet. You should get spikes to help you with that because it basically forces you to run on the balls of your feet. Run with the spikes on, on the track maybe three or four times and you'll get used to it by then, but do it in advance before your meet.
