Why aren't I improving in 100-400m?

All season long I've been practicing harder than people on my team, and yet they consistently beat me in races. I'm stronger than this one guy on my team, but he can still beat me. I run faster during practice and he doesn't even try or anything, but when we go to meets he burns me and the competition. When we go to the weight room, I can lift more than him (the weight lifting is for the strength to move our arms during running) and I usually hit the recommended times that our coach sets during practice. So... am I destined to suck at track forever? True and sincere answers would be appreciated.

It sounds like you are over training at practice. If your friend is beating you in competition it's one of two things.
1. He is training between 70-95% of his training during the week which allows his body to continually get stronger and faster where as you may be running at 90-100% each training day which breaks down your muscles and doesn't allow time to grow. an example would be if you went to the gym and worked your chest everyday. Your muscles get fatigued and tear, but you are not allowing them the time they need to grow. The same is said about running. You can't run at your peak all the time.

2. You are having panic attacks before competition which makes you run slower then normal because of the stress. It's happened to me before I didn't even realize it. My girlfriend is a Psychologist and recognized this though my training regiment and then the difference in my competitions.
Good luck and don't give you. If you keep training you will see results.

What's your fastest 400 meter and highest high jump mine was 48.3 and 6'8 thats pretty good i'm 6'1 w

well KEEP IT UP. when you in the meet don't think about him. look there is a guy in my school he is the fastest one. and no one want to get in to same heat with him. but im the only one want to get in to same heat with him. because i try harder everytime just like you. and last meet i beat him. now im the fastest one in the team. in relay team he is the ancor and im the starter. now im the ancor and he is the starter. my best time before is 11.08 but now it's11.03. 2nd in the state. and keep it up practice everyday.

Can I tell if i am an overpronater by looking at my old running shoes?

Are you the same age, or are the guys beating you older than you are? If you are a 9th grader, and they are seniors, then you shouldn't give up hope.

If you are the same age, are their best times better than your best times (either practice or meet times)? If so, then it could be that they just have more God-given ability to run sprints.

Now, if you're still in the top 4 in your events, you can help the team by running on relays. If you run your leg as hard as you can, your team will notice and you will get recognition.

If you're not in the top 4, that doesn't mean that you should give up running track. Maybe what you need to do is to move up to the 800. If that isn't the answer, maybe you should consider trying jumping events or throwing the discus. I wasn't a big guy, but I had a lot of fun throwing discus. I also wasn't fast, but I had some success doing long and triple jump.

Bottom line: Don't give up on track! I'll bet you'll end up excelling at some area if you stick with it!

Running shoes vs. other shoes?

Try sprinting more. Stamina isn't a problem w/ most ppl, but speed is. Uphill 2.

How can I get Alexander Lemonius email address?

There could be a few different reasons for this problem. One reason could be that you are over working yourself so you are fatigued everytime you race. If this is the case during like the last 2 weeks of the season you may want to stop lifting completely and allow your muscles to fully heal. From the sounds of it another reason could be that he is in your head and it is just a mental thing. If this is the case you need to just keep telling yourself you can beat this guy until you finally start beleiving it. Another reason for this could be that he just has more good given talent. Speed is something you just can't teach. You either have it or you dont. You can keep training to get yourself faster but he may just have more natural speed. Age could also be a factor if your are a freshman and he is a senior or junior there really isnt much you can do but if you keep working hard by the time you are a junior or senior your time should be better then his. You also may want to try running longer races because the shorter the event the more natural speed it takes. WHatever you do dont stop training your times will eventually get lower it is just a matter of time.

Cheapest place to buy Asics Kayano 13's?

First of all, if you think youre going to do worse then you are. when you run, try focusing on the guy thats beating you and base your race on beating him. also try running longer distances and aim for higher times than the ones the coaches set. if you are practicing hard and he isnt then eventually it will show.
