Does wearing ankles weight increase running speed or vertical jump??


i need to run faster and jump higher! does wearing ankles weight help??

I understand why some people would want to use ankle weights in the hope of increasing their performance. More resistance makes better performance, right? However, what many people do not consider is that such products often result in acute injuries, as well as chronic overuse injuries because each time you take a step or a leap, you're crashing down on your legs.

But don't take my word for it. Look at any professional runner or jumper. No one is wearing them at all, training or not. In fact, most (if not all) professional fitness associations consider them as dangerous and unnecessary. The only people using them for aerobic exercises are amateurs who sadly don't know any better.

So why are they even on the market if they are so bad? Ankle and wrist weights can be used safely for the purpose of resistance or weight training involved in strengthening exercises. Nothing else.

As far as I am concerned, whatever miniscule workout gain you think you will gain is worthless if there is a risk of not doing what you love, possibly forever. It is far, far better just to practice a little more.

Unfortunately, there are no short cuts in running or jumping. You must practice, practice, practice. It takes a while, but at least you will get there. Use ankle weights and you will have to sit on the sidelines, watching others get there.

How does running improve your health?

it helps because you are building muscle bringing your feet off the ground while running so when you take them off, you have a little extra power.

no, the only thing ankle weights will do is give you a greater chance of injuring yourself.

How can I prepare for the high school track team?
