Possible for normal athlete to run a marathon without "proper" training?
Have you tried running somewhere fun? I used to run in a rich neighborhood and look at all the houses- I also ran in a business district where I could people watch while I was running. One run was fun just to look at houses and the other kept me going because i was embarrassed to stop with all the people around! :-) I did that before I had started hs running and I really got into it eventually. What about running to music? Having a goal of just making it to the next block or so? Running a block, walking a block and repeating? Hope some of these ideas work for ya! Running is a great sport- I use it to relax me, rev me up and I miss it if I don't get to run for a couple of days. You'll get the hang of it- just stick with it!I'm dreading going out for a run. How do you get yourself out the door?
Its good if it makes u tired! But I think that u r doing it the wrong way. On the first day, go very slowly and only run about a mile. U will learn to enjoy it soon enough. Try swimming again, its fun! U don't have to do like, a hundred laps a day!!Question about 100m track times for an 8th grader?
Yeah,if the way you step throws you out of rhythm it's harder..Step straight out heel to toe, run forward, no bouncing and try to get into a rhythm.I want a sub 6 mile, what should i do?
It's hard because it's good for you! Isn't that always how life works?!Seriously, though, try sticking with it for at least two months. Usually it's really hard to start with because your muscles are getting used to the workout and your body is finding a routine. Once you have that down, it'll be much easier for you and you'll actually enjoy it!
What were you thinking before you had your best race?
I use to train; and still do, so I have a little tips for you.Start fast walking, 20mins, then rest the next, (so monday - wed - friday are the training days), wednesday, 15mins jogging, and friday the same, monday 20mins jogging.. etc. - Keep getting it up in 2 months get it up till 1hr.
It's hard because of your muscles, they aren't worked out, but thats until you get a grip of it though. so don't worry.
You have to become conditioned to running. Swimmng is not the same as running. Try running easy, do not strain yourself. Run until you need to walk and then walk until you can run again. You are going to be tired until you have aclimated the muscles necessary to run. Swimming is difficult and no one can swim very far without a lot of hard work. Run 3 to 4 days per week for the first month and as you get accustomed to it you can increase your days to 5 or 6 days. If you are running 2 or 3 miles per day do not increase your mileage until after 6 weeks, then you can go another 25% above what you have been doing. Stretch well and drink plenty of water.
Most likely you are trying to run beyond your current ability. Everyone can learn to run but it takes patience and a willingness to run very slowly and or run very slowly and walk in the beginning.
To become a runner, the goal is to get to the point where you can run 20 to 30 minutes at an easy pace without stopping. In addition, you must be be able to repeat this workout 4 times a week. From my experience, it typically takes about 8 weeks for a healthy, motivated individual to go from being a non runner to being a runner.
There are many plans that you can follow. An excellent beginners plan is on Runnersworld website. Here's the link.

Basically, you start with a combination of walking and running. The total duration of the exercise is 20 to 30 minutes. Over the course of the 8 weeks, you slowly decrease the amount of walking and increase the amount of running. Eventually, you get to the point where you run 20 minutes without walking. The most important thing is to take it slowly so you do not get injured.
