Which of these brands of running shoe do you prefer? What model?

Question:Brooks, Asics, New Balance? I'm looking for a new running shoe and I just want to get your review on the brand and model you like. Also, I have slightly wider feet, not wide but somewhere in between medium and wide. I have low arches, but I'm NOT flat footed. I've had New Balance 766 but I'm not a fan of those because they're a little stiff/firm and too heavy. I'm looking for a shoe I'll run in maybe 30 miles a week, so not very much to start with. Price is not a concern.

Please, no Nike, Reebok or Adidas suggestions because I'm not looking at buying those brands. I'm asking about the brands mentioned at the top. Thanks!

Is this normal after runing?

Better idea: go to your local running store and have THEM recommend a shoe. They can tell by your gait, build and weight what shoe will be the most supportive, comfortable and appropriate for you.

However, in lieu of this suggestion, I am an Asics girl becuase they come in narrow sizes. My feet are a 2A (about 2" more narrow than average) and are very flat. I also have special issues with gait and pronation due to injuries to my knees and ankles. My physical therapist recommended the Asics GT 2100-series and the 2100-Trail series for trail running.

Seriously though, your best bet is to get fitted by an expert.

Good luck!

For those who run marathons what is your training schedule like?

get brooks i dont rember the model but there very light and comfy

Good websites for asics trainers?

Asics, no doubt. Average life on them is 500 miles and they have a lot better styles to fit the different feet in the world.

Heart rate when increasing intensity?

I go with New Balance. I hear the MR902 is really great and lightweight. I'm sure you know the numbers on New Balance mean something, I usually don't buy any number lower than 800, that's because most of my running is done on trails. I currently use model 1221. I bought three last year because I liked them so much and it's hard for me to find running shoes that I love.
I too have wide feet and my shoes are in a wide model. I also but I also use an orthotic which you may want to consider.

How do they start the 40 yrd dash, and the shuttle?

I use asics their light and have alot of coshing so your ankles don't get injured

Im running a half marathon this sept, dont know how I will train if it will be hot this summer, any suggestion

Asics are my preference. I have very low arches also and after a couple of months of lots of mileage, I had to put in arch supports because my arches started to collapse. But I know others who have low arches and they were not a problem. Asics are reliable and last 6 months easy - depending on your mileage. I have the G2110 i believe, but there are many different styles at different prices.

Race for Life- June 2007?

I know u said no nikes but the air 180 is perfect for an arched foot! I have a really bad arch and ia feel like i'm walking on air and they come in really cute colors!! But if you don't want to do that i recomend Asics! Good luck!

How can I get more stamina for running long distance?

ASICS! theyre very comfortable

How should i improve in the mile?

i'd go for Asics. I have been a runner for a long time and have tried many shoe brands. Asics have proven to be the best as far as durability and foot room. I also suggest Mizuno X10. This is my newest pair and they are like a dream as far as comfort goes. I wish you luck on future runs.

Is 23 minutes for a 5K good ?

I would also suggest Avia. I've only had one pair, but I Loved them. I recently had to give them up because I had worn them to the point where my toe was sticking out. They were very light and soft, with a mesh outer lining (very comfortable, and can accommodate wide feet if need be). They lasted about 7 months, but I probably gave them quite a lot of wear. I wore them rock climbing, canyon hiking, in tennis (not smart, sliding kills the toe), and of course, lots of running.

The pair I use now, by Asics, is very comparable. I'm pretty happy with them, but I find they are slightly heavier, and much stiffer.

Some running stores will let you test a pair of shoes out with a little jog, make sure you do this if you can.

Anyone run a marathon? What's it like - other than hard?

Brooks because they suit my feet.

I never run fast in them but they support my foot and stop them rolling in.
