How can I improve my mile time before tomorrow?
I have the mile run tomorrow in gym, and our class has had health for the past few weeks instead of gym. I haven't been training much (whoops!), but what can i do to improve my time tomorrow (even by a few seconds). I'm talking about breathing techniques, and even what I can do tonight. I really appreciate any answers!

When your breathing... try breathing in you nose and out your mouth... (long breaths) helps keep your pace and body calmDon't eat too much... but eat something and definitely drink some water... (If it was me i would eat granola bars, a banana, and drink a powerade for breakfast)
Don't stop! if you have to slow down then jog. but don't stop!
(when you stop you loose all of your momentum and your body will have a very hard time picking back up)
Pick a running mate... ask any runner and they will tell you it is much easier to run with a buddy than alone
(doesn't have to be a friend.. and they don't have to know about it... just pick someone that you think will make the time that you want and isn't too fast for you...)
finally, give it your all at the end... you can make up valuable seconds if you speed up instead of slowing down at the end...
CHEAT!
Track meet tomorrow. I have to run the open 800m. HELP!?
Make sure you stay hydrated, kick the legs forward far and if you can breath in through your nose and out your mouth.Track and Field Spikes (running)?
There is really nothing you can do in one night... My suggestion would be to go nice and easy, do you do not hurt yourself... =/get really flexible. Don't train too much tonight though, you wouldn't want your muscles to be sore for tomorrows run.
Good Luck.

PRAY!Is 2 months enough time to train for a half marathon??
Try practicing by,1. Run around your house a cuple of times
2. Ride your bike (it gets your legs going)
3. Pace your self so will not need to walk after a while
4. Remeber thats it is not a win or lose type of thing
Actually I have to disagree with the in through your nose out through your mouth. Yes it relax's your body, but your heartrate will be way too fast and require more oxygen into your body. I used to run in the 4:40's breathing through my nose and it hurt, now I run in the 4:20s. When you breath, relax your body and inhale through your mouth but do not breath with your chest and instead breath so your stomach is stretched. Practice it a few times so you know what I mean. Doing this allows your body to occupy your lungs to the full capacity of oxygen in a shorter amount of time. Remember, oxygen = power to your muscles.
I can't really give you tips for a mile since I'm an 800 specialist but yes, just like any race hydrate the night before and eat a lot of carbs, then the morning eat light & lunch eat light & drink lot's of water but not too much so you don't depleat the salts that your body needs.
How to lose weight during Track/Xc?
I dont know if it will work for you, run with somebody that has the same pace as you, get right behind them so this way the person in front of you takes most of the wind resistance away from you. This is something that works for me, try not to eat anything 3-4 hrs before the event. I've also read on a Runners World magazine that some marathon runners drink coffee or a coke 1-2 hrs before the event as well. Stretch tonight and in the morning too. Good luck.Any tips on running the 400 meter dash?
Tommorrow don't start up fast but just try to keep up with the kids that runit ok then at the end run as fast especially at the end even if your legs feel like jelloCan i do skipping instead of running,is it same effecitve?
At the last minute, you can't really train all that much. In fact, it would be best if you did not train tonight, because by tomorrow you will be sore for the mile-run. I can guarantee you that, since you haven't been training for a while, you'll be sore. So, just try the following tips:-Get a good rest; go to bed early.
-Eat something with a lot of sugar tommorrow for breakfast; it will get you engergized.
-Don't tire yourself before the run.
-Stay confident.
Some tips for while running:
-Do not start out sprinting; you will only get tired-out right away. Just work at a steady pace, and you will finish at a good time.
-Run with your back straight, do not crouch down, because that will give you side aches.
-Try your best, and enjoy it!
one way to get you to run faster is your arms. you need to pump your arms to get you going...i dont know why but that really helps...and just keep pushing yourself forward and look forward to how you will feel after you are done
A lot of things can effect your performance. I tend to do best when it's NOT windy (odviously! haha) and when its not too hot. Also, try to get a good night's sleep the night before, and eat pasta the night before the race too, the carbs will give you energy! Also, hydrate yourself all day! but don't drink water or anything else too close to your race. Because your havn't been training much, that may effect your time.
For breathing techniques: breath in your nose, and out your mouth.
For your form: DO NOT cross your body with your arms! (that will give you cramps) And also, make sure you warm up a little, and STRETCH! If you don't warm up, your muscles will be tight and that can also effect your time.
Good luck! :) I hope this helps!
