I currently run a mile in 6:40 and am in 7th grade, I am trying hard to get to 6:15 or less by 8th grade, (August) and I am wondering what kind of training i need on a day to day basis, (how far i need to run, how fast, how much, etc.) I really want to reach this goal and i don't mind how vigorous anything is. Comments, suggestions, answers are welcome.

Run easy 3-4 days per week. 3 to 5 miles per day. Run speed on 2-3 days per week. A good way to do this is to run intervals on the track. Your goal is 6:15 or faster, so run 5x400 at 1:30 with a 1 minute rest between. Run 3x800 at 3:00 with a 1 minute rest. Do one of these on one of your track days. Rest one day per week with no running. One of your distance days do a tempo run where you surge during the run. Do a time trial about every 2 weeks to see your progress and how you feel, so you can tell what you need to work on to improve. Drink plenty of water and be sure to warm up, cool down and stretch.
Are compression shorts good for running track and fields?
run 1/2 a mile then walk 1/2 a mile, then run 1/2 a mil and walk 1/2. do that 3 or 4 times, then u shuld be good.
