How do you help with muscle soreness?
Try starting off going the opposite direction you have been going. After you get used to the length of the run switch back. The reason for the pain is the hill uses different muscles that running on a flat surface. The streches in the article below are helpful. The only thing is though don't give up on it. Eventually your calves will strenghten and the pain will stop. How can I improve my time in the 200?

if your legs are hurting its best to stop or you could cause yourself an injury.try doing plenty of stretching before and after you jog, as well as 'shaking off' the exercise when you return home.
Is there any LEGAL pills that can get u faster??
when you exercise lactic acid bulids up and sits on your muscles, making them ache. It's when you run out of oxygen so you use anaerobic respiration, producing this acid. I did race for life and it kills doesn't it? I was in agony, its not very nice. Carry on though, if you keep going you'l forget about it.X x xX
You need to make sure you have the correct footwear for your feet. Are they supportive enough.
Another thing you can do before running is calf stretches. Stand with your toes on the edge of a step and raise and lower yourself as much as you can comfortably. You should after a while find you can stretch further as your muscles get more supple. This should help you when you are jogging.
It is always good practice to stretch and warm up your muscles before doing any vigorous exercise.
I hope this helps

Pain from running barefoot...?
the best tip I can give is to go & see a massuer/ physio & they will sort you out & give better advice than us lot! you'll find one easily in your phonebookBreathing in your nose or mouth?
Maybe you arent stretching enough before you set off.Make sure you do plenty of warming up before you start.
And also, do a cool down when you get back.
sudden excercise can be a shock to your body - if it feels more gradual then it's not so bad.
Runner's Diet or Short Term Planning.?
it the built up of Lactic acid around your calf muscle that causes the pain, you can't help it as it happens naturally, you can't unfortunately stop it happening.why your running partner doesn't understand that is either them thinking they're helping to keep you motivated or has a better way of coping with the pain.
try to make sure you are adequately hydrated, before the run may help,
my friend who's a tri-athlete, swears by a hot hot bath before bed, but warns you could wake with cramp.
for cramp ensure you have enough salt in your system.
salt tablets are available at chemists, with instructions on how many to take them should be included.

you might want to stretch more than your usual stretching method. it helps. it also might be your shoes. the cushioning of your shoes might be wrong for your feet that is why you calves hurt. do a long sitting stretch before you run so you'd be able to warm up you muscles on your calves.do you warm up properly before?? n ave u got the correct shoes on?makes sure u stretch those calf muscles before you jog! have shoes that have a thick rubber sole as well! n if that dint work at least u wont get struck by lightening!! hahahaha!
How do you prepare for a long or triple jump?
It has taken me seven weeks to be able to say this but keep at it. Honestly this will get better - you should also have a rest day between runs - three weeks ago I could hardly walk during the day but by taking rest days I am back on track and hoping to get to the two mile distance any time soon. Another tip would be to vary your start and finish spot so you don't meet that hill half way into your run. Good luckRun on my toes for the 400 meter?
