Is there such a thing as a sat nav type thingie for runners?
I've heard that there's something for runners/cyclists that measures heartrate but incorporates some sort of sat nav that charts your run (I think you can down load the info onto your computer to show your route, miles run etc). Does this exist and if so, what's it called. Was thinking of buying it for my hubby for his birthday if not too pricey. If anyone out there's got one, would be grateful for their opinion on it. ta

Whats the lowest amount of body fat you can have and still be healthy?
The best GPS (sat nav) based training device for runners is the Garmin Forerunner 305. It is purely a training device and not a watch you'd wear during the day. It includes heart rate and gps for speed and distance. It is a little big but very popular, i.e. market leader, and there is a strong user community on Yahoo Groups. This is the one to get if you want GPS. In addition to downloading the data and it also let's you map the run online. Seehttp://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/us/onto...
There are other GPS based systems but I do not recommend them. Garmin is the leader in the GPS technology and they use the most sensitive receiver in the 305. The other GPS training watches, even the Garmin ones with the older receivers, tend to lose the signal easily during runs. It often doesn't take much, i.e. trees, tall buildings, hills, or heavy cloud cover. The Garmin is the only one that really works well. Their system is also best supported by third parties.
There are also training watches, i.e. watches which can be worn during the day when not running, which also measure speed, distance and heart rate but use an inertial sensor attached to the shoe to avoid the satellite reception problem. The best of these watches are made by Polar and Suunto and include the S625x/RS800 and the T3/T4/T6. However, these watches need to be calibrated for best accuracy. This can be frustrating for some runners. They also do not record position, just speed and distance so there is no mapping.
I am not affiliated with this site but I have purchased heart rate monitors from http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com...
They usually have good prices and prompt shipping.
Another good place online is http://www.pccoach.com/
There are a number of heart rate monitor reviews there as well. http://www.pccoach.com/reviews/index.htm...

Sat Navs even work if you are walking
Im in 8th grade, and my fastest mile was 6:20, and my 2 mile is 16:06, is that good?
just use your normal nat nav, it still works the same. What kind of shoe insert should I buy so that my feet won't hurt when I am running?
Yes, there are a number of them in many different price ranges. If you dont want to spend too much, I'd suggest the Timex Speed+Distance system. you can wear it as a normal watch all the time, then add the GPS armband when you run. You can get it on Amazon for about $100.
Helen,
I run with a Garmin Forerunner which does all that...it's a great gadget and worth every penny. It tracks distance, elevation, and it even has features for intervals and pacing. Check out the product review below if that's what you're looking for. Good luck!
