How can i improve my time for the mile and 2 mile?

As for your after-marathon recovery, follow the directions at the link below. I have run more than my fair share of marathons, and I follow those directions more or less.

As for your question about drinking alcohol, well, there is no real reason to completely avoid alcohol after your marathon. I know that this might sound strange, but a pint or glass is not going to hurt your recovery significantly, if at all. Let me explain.

Some marathons have beer gardens with free beer. Lots of people, including myself, drink beer afterwards. It rushes through your system pretty quickly, so you get a buzz almost immediately. Also, you will find that you will not be able to drink it in large quantities, so there's no point in worrying about drinking too much. They taste terrible after about half a pint or so.

During your recovery, you will still find yourself getting buzzed more quickly than usual, but you will be able to drink alcohol in larger quantities. One or two drinks per day will not hurt you, but you should avoid more than that. As with all things in life, it's perfectly fine to enjoy in moderation. Also, don't forget to also drink plenty of water and sports drinks to keep your body well hydrated during your recovery.

Have fun in Dublin and Greece~!

How to improve our samina when it comes to long distance running?..?

you should avoid alcohol for days before and after a marathon.

stretch well, before and after.
get lots of sleep.
if they have massage tables at the end of the run, use them.
drink lots of water, especially afterwards.
about 6-8 hours after the marathon, go for a 20 minute walk or slow slow jog to stretch your muscles out. it will keep you from being stiff the next day.

What do you want in a running log?

Things that have worked for me:

1)make sure you warm up and warm down properly.
2)Take a long hot bath after you get home
3) book a massage from a professional later in the evening.

Oh and definitely avoid the alcohol for a few days beforehand - you'll enjoy it so much more when you get to Greece!

Best of luck with the marathon, and enjoy your hols!

Is this a good time for hurdles?

Yes, avoid alcohol, especially the day before the marathon and immediately after the race. Alcohol tends to dehydrate so it will adversely affect marathon performance and the initial recovery. However, having a celebration beer after the race should be fine once you've had the chance to eat and rehydrate.

Muscle soreness generally peaks 48 hours after the race. Your tendons are especially weak after running a marathon and you are most injury prone for the next several days. There is really no need to do any running during this period. Most likely you won't want to.

If possible, get massage after the race. Otherwise, just keep moving, i.e. walking around, but don't bother stretching. As noted above, your tendons are weak at that time, you can cause more harm than good. Elite runners do not jog or stretch after a marathon, you don't have to either.
