Dry throat during the 800m run?
So, I've run the 800 a few times this year, and my time has dropped a total of 12 seconds from the first time. I have the pacing down, but when I get to the last 250ish meters of the race, my throat gets really really dry. I don't get tired, but I just can't breathe because of the dryness. I'm pretty sure that affects my race. I take my inhaler before (otherwise I'd probably die of an asthma attack lol) Any suggestions on how to keep "moist." I've tried to just keep drinking water but then I feel bloated and heavy from all of it...

I'm a senior in high school and i am a sprinter on the track team. How can i get faster?
I know what you're talking about, it's probably a result of breathing really hard through your mouth. It usually happens to me when I'm sort of out of shape and I push myself really hard. You breathe hard because you need oxygen to make your muscles work, but the more you train the less oxygen you'll need for your muscles to work. So if you get in better shape you won't be gasping for breathe quite as early in the race and the dry throat won't be as bad or it won't happen at all.
That's just half of it though because no matter how good a shape you're in, if you aren't hydrated you'll still get a dry throat. You can't drink the water right before you run, you need to chug it in the morning and the day before. Of course if you load yourself with water right before you run you'll feel bloated, you need to stop drinking and eating about an hour before your race.
Also, I try to breathe through my nose and just a little through my mouthe for the first 200-400 meters until I get tired enough to really start huffing. That way you don't dry up your saliva so fast. So just keep training hard and drink water in the morning and the dry throat should get better.
Yeah breath through your nose and out through your mouth. You lose moisture when you breath in through your mouth.
How fast do you think an average human can run?
I would say do not drink too much water any time near the race...maybe start drinking water in the beginning of the day because dehydration isn't immediate. That way you'll be "moist" by the time of the race and you wouldn't need so much water just before the race. I am not sure if that works until you try it =d.Does anyone know about free running classes in montreal canada?

It may be one of those things that you have to live with it.If you are using an inhaler for asthma, are you taking other medication, too? I used to take antihistamines during pollen season and I found that that would really dry out my mouth and throat.
Talk to your doctor. He/She may be able to give you an alternate medication that doesn't have as pronounced an effect on your throat.
By the way, trying to run an 800 while breathing through your nose is not the way to go. You can't get enough air that way.
