I am beter at 400m but coach wants me to stick to 800m?
my coach wants me to concentrate on my 800m but everyone says im beter at 400m. why is he telling me to only practice for the 800? I am in 6th grade (85lbs 4 11") my 800 time is 2:50 and my 400m time is 1:08

But.that doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't ever do the 400. If you are much better at it now then you should definitely compete in it from time to time. Just keep in mind that later down the road your body will change and that opens the possibility of changing events.
I was a 400m runner in high school and college but am now running the 800m professionally, and after I graduated from college was about the time where things just changed for me and I moved up in events. So you never know..
I hope that helps :)

How can I train myself to start running? I can't run for two minutes without feeling tired?
try to talk to him and see if he will let you participate in both races. I am in 7th grade and i know that my coach is cool with us coming up to him and asking him to change races. Even if he doesnt let you change, I would stick with the 800 and get better at it. if you can get good at the 800 then your 400 time will improve too, and then the coach could possibly put you at both. Plus, you will have a lot of track meets. If you don't get your way for this one then you might get the races you want in another. Hope I helped ;)Will running make my abs feel and look a bit stronger?
Your 400 time is better than you 800 time. Many people can do both events, some can not. When you are concentrating on the 800 you will still do speed work that can convert to 400 training. The coach may see your potential in the 800. If you speak to him about doubling he may allow that. Do you run on the 4x400? That is a good double rather than running the 800 and the open 400.How do one prepare oneself to run a marathon. If one is used to run only 3 miles every other day?.?
Your coach probably thinks there is more room for you to improve in the 800 rather than the 400 because in the 400 dash it is shorter so you can only improve by a second or a few but the 800 is double that length so there is more room for improvement and your time can decrease more dramaticallyHow do I improve my high jump for track?
Well your 400m time is definetly better than your 800m time. I run a 2:36 800m (i don't run the 400m..sorry) but your 400m time is actually pretty good. The record for MY school is 1:00 flat. (but thats just my school) however anywhere from 67-69 seconds is really good! so your doing very good, and i think you should convince your coach to allow you to run the 400m. Good luck! :)More Questions & Answers...
