10 yard dash- 1.7 is that good?

your time seems pretty good. If you are a sprinter, which is what it seems, you should be focusing a lot on you muscle strength, not just in your legs but your upper body too. If your school has a gym, you should be lifting weights their, or if not, try to find a local gym near you. pushups and crunches also help. The other part is running. For sprinting, you should run 1 to 2.5 miles a day if you are serious about the sport. Try running a distance at which you can go a good speed. Than keep your same pace, but go farther each time you run. There are techniques to improve your skill and proficiancy in running, but for now, you should focus on improving your muscle strength and expanding you endurance. The most important thing however is to do well in practices. Do whatever you have to at the maximum that you can.

I Iive in Atlanta, USA. Is there any US TV network showing the Boston Marathon?

Well great job on participating in a track meet at an earlier age ! That's awesome and you're def on your way to becoming a great runner if you practice. At my high school, Varsity runners are running 12/13's. You are easily capable of running those times by your first year of high (which I am assuming is prob next year). I'm just curious.. would you mind posting your 200 and 800 times? As for improving your times, for the 800 (which is the easiest to improve your time), go to the track and do 4, 400m repeats at a consistantly fast pace. If you post your 800 time, I can help you figure out a reasonable 400 time. For the 100, do "60 flies" which is jogging 30m and then sprinting all-out 60m (to measure, use the straight part of the track and jog 1/3 and sprint the rest) and do these 10 times. For the 200 do 8, 100m repeats, sprinting each time but have your 1st be close in time to you 8th one. Any questions, kathleen.anderson@hotmail.com. And please post your 200 and 800 times so I can help you more :] Thanks !

Middle School Track...~!?

my first track meet was a few weeks ago its pretty overwhelming im 12 years old and i run about the same but there are some really fast kids on my track team.. we've played agaisnt a middle school team who got 11.68 but i think they have been held back a few times because they were huge. so yea you are doing pretty good my track team is first in the region and our 100m runners usually get 12 flat. but most of the other schools get like 13-15 so for your age your doing great but still have room to improve try doing repeats and what times did you get on your 200 and 800 i am a 800 and 400 runner so i have some experience in them. hope i helped

What is it like in a meet??

consistently run a mile a day and play sports that make you run a lot, like soccer.
