Why is running class so expensive to attend?
Answers:
Does anybody on here run USATF track or x-country?
Actually, I find running classes to be relatively cheap. If you shop around, there are plenty of affordable running classes at local colleges or the YMCA. In fact, some are absolutely free. Usually, the instructors are nominally paid, if at all, and they give you plenty of information for improving your running. Also, being part of a running group gives you a great set of people who keep you motivated to keep going.Half marathon and marathon training courses can be expensive, sometimes costing over $100 for a season. However, these classes are usually about 20 weeks, breaking down to a little over $5 per week. Around where I live, that's about half the price of a movie ticket (and worth far more). On top of that, they often give you free gear and discounts to running shoe stores and races, as well as valuable information on training and injury prevention.
If you find running classes to be expensive, I suggest that you keep moving. You will quickly find one at a more reasonable price.
How many Americans regularly run?
I would shop around. I've found lots of running classes in my area that are very cheap.Another alternative is to look for a running club to join. Its free! You may not get the personal training and attention of a class, but you'll meet lots of serious runners who will be glad to give advice and help. They may have information about other classes, too.
