Track Spikes on a non rubberized track?
Base work. Lots of slower paced longer runs over the summer. That will build up your endurance strength so that when the season comes around you have a better base to sharpen with sprint work.Another work out to try is descending speed work. If you are trying to target the 400M, run 3 in a row, what ever you average time is, use that as your pace to work off of. Run 200's. Start at about 5 seconds per 200m slower than you 400 pace, run a 200 at the pace, walk a 200, run the next 200 about 2 sec faster, walk another, run the next 200 another 2 sec faster. Keep going until you are 4 seconds under you 400 pace. Do that work out 2 or 3 times in a month. The next month run the same workout but start 2 seconds faster, so you run the same nubmer of sprints, and you last one is now 6 seconds under your 400 pace.
What's the best way to train for a marathon?
I ran track one year, it was alright i liked the team and everything but going out there every day and just running ur heart out wasnt for me. But follow what u like...As for the getting faster, you just need to work on it do sprints and keep doing them and keep doing them remember practice makes you better. I wont say "practice makes you perfect" because no one is perfect at anything..So just keep running short sprints and work on your abs because it helps you also run faster. Another thing that will help you get faster is if you workout your legs, and when i say workout i mean workout til you can barely walk so it can burn in the morning and thats how you know you will get better. Just work on Calves, Thighs, Hamstrings you know the basics, do Squats they help and do Calf Raises they help also.
As for the running for a long time, all you have to do is just go outside in your neighborhood and run til you cant run anymore, and remember the place where you stopped at because as you keep doing it and doing it, you will go on longer and soon you will have the best lungs on the track.
Hope this helped
Any reccomendations of supplements for 400m sprinter?
First of all watch what you eat. That old saying you are what you eat is true. If you put the right food in your body it will go a long way in helping your stanima and your speed. Also try working on your calves by doing calves raises and what not. Also squats and dead lifts will help your leg strength a lot. Most importantly stretching will have an impact right away. Stretching twice a day will really help you and its probably the easiest thing to do. You can do it while your watching tv or something. The only way though to build up your stamina is to run long distances or a jump rope is also very good for conditioning. Also try I cant think of the work right now but it involves jumping up and down over boxes and it will also help a lot. I played football for my entire life and the best way i ever improved my speed was by runnning 40 40 yard dashes a day. I was able to cut 2 whole seconds off of my forty time by doing that, but it was a lot of har work. You must train. You should get with a summer track club so you can receive coaching to help you develop as a runner and hurdler. This will also allow you to try new events, where you are limited at school. I don't think anyone can run for a long time without getting tired. You must run long distance to get into condition to run long. There is no short cut.
If you don't have spikes already, you should get them because it gives you a better grip on the track. Also you should eat fruits that are high in vitamin C such as oranges, if you don;t like taht particular fruit you can also eat pears or apples before you eat to give you a boost of energy before you run. You should also do breathing excercises before you run like aerobics breathing excercises or meditation. I have been running track for three years now and doing these things have increased my speed over the years.
