Is this possible? preparing for a 10k?

Question:I'm a 20 yr old female and have been running 4-6x a week for about three months as a new hobby. I've just started running in a few 5K races and am very comfortable with that distance (I usually finish in 27-29 minutes.

right now I can run about for 4 miles on a somewhat hilly path before having to stop. There's a 10k on june 9th that I'd like to do and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to be able to run that distance by then or is that too ambitious? mind you I'm not looking to win the race or anything, but just to be able to finish with little or no walking.

any advice would be much appreciated. thanks!

Wicth do you perfer 3k road or 3k crosscountry?

Given that you can comfortably run 4 miles and the race is a month away, I'd say that you have time to get ready. The link below has some tips and an 8-week training plan. Instead of following this plan...just get some ideas from it and try to run 5 miles this weekend...6 miles next weekend.and then 7 miles the weekend after that...that should give you two weekends to go out for easier & shorter jogs prior to the race. Best of luck!

Track and field (my best, times r they good)?

Well, i ran a 5K recently, and my brother was a very good distance runner (he has the HIGH SCHOOL record for the mile) so he tought me a lot of tips and everything. So i'll do my best to help you :)

You don't want to start out training too hard, because you don't want an injury, and your body might not be able to handle it. I would suggest running at least 4.5 miles every OTHER day and the days inbetween do some sprint training to help with your speed, and then do a 1-2 mile cool down. Make sure you give yourself a day off each week.

If you work hard, you'll beable to get it :)

Good luck! I hope this helps! :)

Convincing my parents to let me run track?

it's definitely possible. but start training more - i'd start like this week. build your way up to 5 miles for starters. take it much slower and keep it steady. then slowly increase to 6 and 7 and so on. you sound like you can run a steady 5k so you really just need to get more endurance. before you attempt your 10k you should really be able to run 10 miles, easy, without stopping. dont be afraid to slow down the speed. make sure you still have tempo runs and hillier runs that are shorter and faster also.

I like to run the 100 m, can somebody give a real trainning ?

If you have been averaging 4 miles a day for 3 months you can finish a 10K. By June 9 you should not have any problem finishing the 10K. Since you have been running for 3 months you can increase your mileage. Maybe do 5 miles a couple of days instead of the usual. You can also do a long day of 6 miles just one day per week. Staying at 4 to 6 days per week is a good idea. You should always take off at least one day per week.
