Yes, running above your age group makes a difference. Especially in developing children. That is why there are age groups in competition. If someone is especially gifted they can compete and win in an older age group, but most kids can not compete against someone who is older and bigger.

What kind of track shoes should I buy if all events I do is running?

Reason is if you're fast it dosent matter who you running agaisnt, you should be able to run at a very competitive level.
But if you slow, then both answer would be yes. Why run at a higher age group when you're not a very experienced runner?

u want to be pretty fast if ur gonna do that cuz the competition gets faster n faster as u get into higher ages. so just make sure u run like a 530 mile or 11-12 2 mile to do decent
