How do I warm up and cool off before and after a 15 minute jog?
The shorter and quicker, the better :) I'm impatient and often pressed for time, so I usually don't warm up or stretch beforehand (I'm only going on a light jog, anyway). However, I am getting a little older (!) (pushing 30), so I think I should start, in the interest of preserving my knees later on in life. Thanks!

Can I wear men's shoes? Women's bodies move differently?
Only static stretch after a run, thats important, never take cold tight muscles and try and stretch them. Go get one of the small tight rubber bands and try and stretch it, it'll snap after a small stretch; do it with one of the larger more flexible ones and they'll stretch a lot further quite fine. Imagine your cold muscles as the small tight elastic band, and once warmed up as the larger, stretchier ones.I often discuss with some runners why they stretch before, they say 'to avoid injury' ; my reply, but your risking injury by doing it - to which they reply 'well it may stop me injuring myself in the run though'. So they take extra time and effort, risking injury, because it 'may' stop injury later!
To warm up do a light walk, overexagerating the action slightly; taking longer strides and lifting your knees higher; then get fatster and build up to your normal jog. This will slowly warm up the muscles, which just by doing that makes them larger and more flexible, and will also slightly stretch them, but without the risk of injury.
At the end of your run your muscles are already warm and flexible so its fine to stretch them then. Stretching them after your run will stop them from aching later in the day.
Ceratinly for a light jog don't worry too much about it, stretching afterwoods will help you if you sometimes ache later or feel stiff the next day.
no matter what, before and after your exercise, you have to strech or you have the chance of getting hurt, thats all there is too it
How do i get my speed up in running?
Walk, don't just sit down.Does anyone know where I can buy a decent pair of running shoes?
Start with some stretches to loosen up your leg muscles be sure that they are good and loose before starting to run. After your run, walk about for about one to two minutes to cool down. It's good to take the time to take care of yourself.do a lil warm up lap then stretch real good b4 u run then do another cool down lap n stretch good after

to be honest, it isn't reallt necessary before a jog. just start a bit slower than normal for 5 minutes, then run 15, then do a slow 5 on the endsorted!
