Whats the fastest way to get back in shape for running?
When you run with hand weights, you should start off with the lowest weight possible. Even a 2 lb or kg weight is very demanding after 5-10 minutes, even for someone who is very strong. Anyone recommending using heavier weights a) obviously never ran with hand weights or b) ran for far less than a mile. Further, running with heavy hand weights creates a serious risk of knee injury because you are pounding on the ground harder than your knees can handle. Also, something that worked for me is to carry two water bottles, one in each hand. That way, when you get thirsty (and your arms feel tired), you can drink some of the water and lighten your load.
As with all weight training exercises, by using low weights for long period of time, you are building up your endurance but not your muscular build. To get muscular arms, you should be doing curls or extensions with heavy weights and low repetition.
So if the soles of your shoes indicate wear/tear on the outside corner or your heel...?
yes and 5 poundsWeird blood in mouth taste after running...?
yes and plus 5 IbsIs anyone out there going to run the Miami marathon 2007...?
I would try to run on a track rather than tread mill for if you lose you're footing it might be alittle hard to protect yourselfAnyways...i would go with 2-5 pounds and remember to use good form!
Good luck
I am 15 year old freshman and I run a 5:34 mile. Should I try out for track?
Not a good idea. All you get is sore hands, sore arms and sore shoulders. If you really think weights will help, use 2 half liter water bottles. You can drink it as you get thirsty, and lightens up the load as you finish the run. It may actually help develope your grip.More Questions & Answers...
