I've started running 3000m a day, what effects will this have on my body?

i've started running 3000m a day, i know its not a lot but im not exactly a runner. i was hoping lose weight off my legs, make them slimmer and tone them. will this running have any real impact or do i need to run more metres or more often for it to affect me? i have noticed that im finding it easier so i guess this shows that my staminas increasing. how else will this running affect my body? any change to the abs? thanks

If i have carbo loading tonight .. when tomorrow afternoon is my 4.5km fast run ... will it help me ..??

You should see an overall decrease in bodyfat, assuming you don't increase your calorie intake above what your burning by running and your normal daily activities. Running will strengthen your legs, but as far as your overall appearance, including abs, they will appear more defined because with less body fat the abs, along with other muscles become more visible.

You've already noticed an increase in endurance and hopefully just a general better feeling of well-being. You may want to increase your distance as you see fit, but don't overlook the importance of rest too. The body does need sometime to recover and get stronger, this can only lead to you being able to run further and longer, resulting in even more calories being burned.

-good luck

Any runners had a bout of Tarsal Tunnel syndrome?

Your heart will be a lot stronger, you will become slimmer but I would suggest increasing your speed and distance after running 3000m comes easier, that way you are also increasing your health too. The farther/faster you run, the more in shape you will get.

Which shoe would be best for distance training: the Asics Gel-evolution II or the Nike air max 360 II?

It will increase your stamina and slim you. Go 6 days a week, not 7. Whether it is enough depends on your time. If you want to know exactly how much to do check Dr. Coopers book "AEROBICS".

I really want to improve my running speed in 100m 200m and 400m what should i do?

3000 meters is less than 2 miles a day, so you will not be hurting yourself by doing this everyday. But take one day per week off. You need this day to let your body recover and rebuilt muscle tissue. Even if you are not tired, take the day off. Running at a young age can lead to stress fractures [me :(] but you will be fine with one day off. Make sure you drink lots of water, and this will also help you to lose weight.

When you are ready to increase your weekly milage, make sure you do not increase it by more than 10% per week.
Example:
6 days a week * 3000 meters = 18000 meters
10% of 18000 = 1800 meters
New weekly mileage = 19800 meters
New daily mileage = 3300 meters

I hope that you will take my advice because I run track and cross country and I know you will lose weight!!
