I need some tips to help me run faster what kind of exercises can i do to help me?

run sum hills( but dont do it a month before competitions) go the gym twice a week to build muscles.and run 400m 8 times twice a week. tat should help. remember to warm and warm down and do stretching before training and any competitions.this is to avoidinjury and to ready ur muscles for d work u giv them.

Is there such a thing as running too hard?

well im not exactly sure what exercises will help but if you run almost as though you were marching (the whole foot touches the ground at the same time and you push off the ground at the same time) then you don't waste any time with going heel to toe.
im not sure if you get what i mean.. its hard to explain without actually showing someone..

What are some good pointers for training for the 800 meter and 1600 meter race?

Hm, I don't know a lot about running but I'll offer you what I can.
1. Get your blood flowing a bit before you start running by stretching or just walking around for a bit. Do this for 5-10 minutes to work up to your target heart rate.
2. I think the trick might be gradual increase. So, you run a mile in 8 minutes. Next time try for 7.5. Then 7. And so on...

Is there an online site I can use to measure the distance I run around my neighbourhood (Chelsea)?

What I would suggest is ask a sports trainer.There is one at this site who ran track in college and might be able to answer your question hope this helps.
