I recently quit smoking and started running, what is a good time to run the mile in?
i guess you can say i jogged, trying to take it easy the first few days. but i ran a mile in like 15 minutes, and i can usually walk a mile in 15 minutes, or there about. i feel like i got a better workout but 15 minutes seems too long for 1 mile. does that seem rite? or is it just b/c i started running. considering the most i could run the other day was for like 3 minutes.

Everyone starts off at a difference pace, and there is no point in comparing yourself to others until you start running for a while. That is because your running pace will improve by leaps and bounds as you continue training. You mentioned that the longest you ran the other day was about 3 minutes and now you can run continuously for 15 minutes. Certainly, a five-fold improvement is great in anyone's book. Also, running 1.5 miles in 15 minutes is a 10 minute per mile pace, which is a good pace for a beginner. Lots of runners start out around where you are right now. Most training programs involve running for 3-5 days per week, with rest days meant to recover. Running everyday often result in an overuse injury -- even elite athletes take a day off per week. While it is important to push yourself, there is no point in overdoing it. Just listen to your body and don't strain yourself.
Congratulations on quitting smoking, which is already a huge feat in itself, and I wish you good luck on your continued training.
4 minutes 1 mile
How much does weight relate to running ability?
15 minutes is kinda long...a good everage time is 7-8 minutes. and its not bad too run everyday. just know when you body tells you to take a restBicep muscles bringing me down..?
a good time is 8 minutes and an excellent time is 5 minutes. good luck. it's definately healthy if you don't overdo yourself and if you eat healthy too.How do u look and see how many thumbs up and down u got for your answers?
i woulda thought early morning or late afternoon when it not so hot......go u good thing n congrats on giving up!!!!!!!well of course it depends on your age, weight, and if you just quit smoking, depending on how long you smoked, your lungs arent used to it. It also depends on how well in shape you are. But 8 minutes would be good if you could get it up to there. And running everyday I don't think would be very healty, too much strain on your heart and lungs, but they say its good. I run every other day. hope this helped
depends on your age. im a teen and i run about a 6:30 mile. 15min seems way to much, but if you're really old, then its not that bad.
i suggest take it easy and just pace yourself. you just came off smoking, so run everyday for about a half or full mile. dont overrun. and dont run to fast. take it easy and just try to improve your lung capacity. i also suggest swimming.
