Is it ok to run with a maybe sprained ankle?

calcium is good for a start. believe it or not, often the culprit is electrolyte deficiency. eat a banana every day! can you soak your legs in a whirlpool bath or hot tub?

also, the TYPE of running might be partly at 'fault.' personally, i try to avoid pavement, but since you're off to the marines, THAT may not be possible. try dirt/grass/trail running until then.

How can I avoid sore ankles after a run?

heat and ice packs.

Need some help maybe from experienced runners?

It could be that you are wearing the wrong shoes. Most of the time, when that happens, it will give you shin splints. It may also be that when you run, you subconsciously lean towards that right leg. By that i mean, while you are running, more of your weight is favoring your right leg. Most people don't notice until something starts to hurt. Other things that may cause the problem is the surface you are running on. Concrete will do that if you are not used to it. Only because each step you take on concrete, your legs absorb most of the shock. The ground, or dirt, will absorb a lil bit of the shock, and not cause the problem as often. As for the pain, i would recommend (NSAID), like Aleve. But not too much. Rest as much as possible, ice it when you can, learn some stretching techniques for your legs and calves, and don't over do it. Good luck on your journey to becoming one of the best in the USMC!! Is it feasible to run a sub six minute mile at fifty without killing myself?

The Bleep Test?

Have you tried warming up by performing stretching exercises? Do this before and after you run. This will prevent the stuff that causes muscle cramps. A good plan to to work out every other day. For example, perform stretching exercise on Mon, Wed, and Fri. Rest the other days. Increase your time as you feel fit. Commence running for 5 minutes. Then the next day 10. Until you increase to 30 minutes.
