What is good form?

Answers:

Do you know the world record time in 100mt, who & when?

Good form varies according to your body, and everyone's body is different.

I feel the most important thing is to minimize the noise you make when your foot hits the ground. Making noise means a hard impact, and over time this will lead to injuries.

I think of good form as incorporating the elements of speed, grace, power, and relaxation. You have to practice and build yourself in each facet. Speed you get from speed workouts, like intervals. Grace you learn from training runs where you run as smoothly as you can. Power comes from hill runs where you attack the hills and swing your arms hard. Relaxation comes from long runs and confidence.

Put those together while running quietly and your form should be right for you.

Tips for my first track meet?

arms do wonders! use them at 90 degrees. the faster u use ur arms the faster ur legs will go!

Anyone run? Do Youn Think these running shoes are ok?

Run with your body erect (no forward lean) with your arm swing so that your hands would lightly brush your shorts just below the waist area. Try to lightly touch your heel and then push off your forefoot and toes. Remember to keep your (c)hest up, (h)ips forward and (p)ush off your toes (CHP)! Practice some form drills once a week . Any bending at the waist or hunchiing over slows you down and lightly cup your hands with your thumbs up to keep your arm swing forward and relaxed.

Improve running?

My coach always told me that the key to good running is to relax. Never form a fist with your hands while your running. The less energy you use up top, the more energy you will have to put towards your leggs a feet to go the extra mile. Keep you arms close to your body, to avoid floppy arms. Try to keep them at a 90 degree angle. Another important factor is the position of your body when you run. Never lean in. Always run up with your body in an upward position. Also make sure that you feet are always pointing forward. Pay attention to your feet one day when your running. My feet like to go outwards when I run, ( my right foot points towards my right and my left foot towards the left), Try to run in a straight line. If your run with any angle with your feet your not going to be able to run to your max. If your feet go to any angle you taking of seconds from your best possible time. I hope this helps. I learned all of this from my coach and believe me she knows what shes doing, she has coached us through 3 straight years as cross country penninsula district champions.
