Generally, people are specialista in one area, whether is be sprinting, distance running, throwing or jumping. Some people doube up in similar events such as the long jum and triple jump or toe 100 and 200 metres. The Heptathlon for women and the decathlon for men see single competitors compete over several events, gaining points in each event. The winner is the overall highest points scorer over the 7 (women) or 10 (men) events. These events are designed to see who is the best all round track and field competitor
Do you think i could beat my school mile record in three years?
In track and field, there are many events that different people compete in. Some athletes compete in more than one event, but most specialize.Run miami beach early on weekends for about 2 hours?
usually they specialize as a 100m runner may not be a good miler, or a 100m hurdler may not be good at high jump. Some athletes that can do a lot of events will end up do the Heptathlon for girls and the decathlon for boys. Some athletes especially rookies may try a few events so they can figure out which ones or ones they like and are good at.In high school an athlete will do more than 1 event but those events are in the same kind of area for instance the following combos
100mh/100m/200m & 4 x 100m relay(which I did)
200m/400m &4 x 400m relay
long/triple plus a sprint event
800M/1500M
etc
What is the best way to improve your long distance running including ways to stretch, run, and eat?
everyone speicializes, but there is some crossover.you will find sprint specialists that do 100, 200, and 400m, or distance runners that do the 1500, 3k and 5k. but there is no requirement that you do more than one event.
you can choose what you want to do. if you would like to be a hurdler than you can be one. It all depends on what you like. it is ok (about your ignorance).
How long should i wait after eating, before running?
well im on the track team and mostly everyone has their own events that they're good in. some people are good at different things so some people do long distance, others do sprints, and others are field eventers like jumping and throwingHow much does endurance running help shorter distance running?
you can do lots of events or just a few. depends on the athlete, the meet rules and the coach. some meets have unlimited entries for races some limit to 3 competitors. Cross country has everyone in the same race. races range from 100-400 runners in a single race.Is your senior year more important than your junior when it comes to sports scholarships?
The great thing about track & field is that you can do the event that suits they type of athletic skills and body that you have.If you are a fast runner, muscular type you will do sprint races.
If you have a good combination of speed and endurance, you will do middle distance races
If you are a think person with great endurance, you'll run distance races.
You don't have to be a great runner to be a high jumper, but if you have good jumping ability, you can do it.
If you are a gymnast type, the pole vault would be a natural event.
If you are good at throwing things, the javelin would be the event to try.
If you are good at throwing things and are very strong, the discus throw and shot put would be your event.
Track and field is a great sport for everybody!
What is the best warm up before sprinting the open 100m/200m?
here's the deal, it depends on what you're good at, if you're fast, run, if you're strong throw, if you can jump...jumpI am in college running track, and I'm doing long jump and high jump, and I love them.
where I went to high school, we could only do 4 events, so pick the ones you're best at.
