Does High School track happen year round or is it seasonal or etc? Is it happening now?

Everybody has told you to get started.

I would recommend that you find a place where you can map out a course that's between 2 and 3 miles long. Make some mental notes where the mile points are. If it is a loop course (which I like) leave some distance to walk a cooldown after you quit running.

When you start running, get yourself a watch with a stopwatch, and time your runs. That way you can see what kind of pace you are running.

I keep a little log book and write down my run, and the time. That way I can see how I am improving. You might like that if you have goals that you want to reach.

How much does the cold and wind effect your running?

get outside immediately, but expect it to be different.

i find running outside much more satisfying than running on a treadmill but the two are different experiences. on a treadmill your leg is pulled back by the belt when your foot strikes. running outside your foot pushes off when you strike. the pull versus push may feel a little odd at first. you may find that it is a little more work too, but don't sweat it. just ease into the effort level you found comfortable on the treadmill and hit it.

in all honesty, i find treadmill running to be really dull. you'll be far more involved in your run and the world around you when you are outside.
