Cold weather and running.?
Does running in cold weather contribute to sore knees and other joints? I've been getting achy knees when running in 15 degree weather, but nothing real bad. Will this problem go away when the weather warms up?

only thing that ou need to worry about with the cold is that you have to stretch, extra good. thenyou need to keep windpands and sweatshirt on for the first mile or so to warm your body up. if you are running short fast distances than you need to run/jog about 2 mile warm upI've been training for a marathon since august, knees killing me...any comments, info or help?
Yes but I would stop running in that cold of weather. Why stop running in it? Just dress as though it's colder than it actually is outside (extra layers, hats and gloves), and make sure you warm up properly.
What's the difference between the ASICS Kayano XI and XII (besides the roman numerals)?
first thing you should warm up in somewhere warm to warm you muscles because you'll get many muscle achsI think so 15 degree weather is good for running
I, too, get the knee and joint pain during cold weather. The knee pain is definitely a winter time thing. I haven't yet figured out how to make it go away. Its not as bad if I wear running tights than if I wear shorts. I try to do a couple treadmill workouts mixed in with outdoor running so I don't have run with pain everyday. If there is any way to get rid of the pain, I'd really like to know too!
Only for runners! training for the juniors 400m...?
wrap you knees with tensor bands, its all about keeping your body warm, good luck. What are the long term advantages and disadvantages with running with the following?
Interesting. Never heard of this before. 1) Wonder if it is a shoe problem (the temps are cold and the midsole of your shoes are hard). 2) Are your shoes worn out? Maybe you need new shoes. 3) Maybe your muscles are not warm and they are tense from the cold. You might need warmer clothes (tights, track pants, etc). 4) Maybe you do need a little longer warm-up time, meaning jogging for a little longer to let yoru muscles warm up then you can get into your training pace. This happens to me all the time. When I run in the cold, both of my knees end up being really sore. It never happens in warm weather though.
Who/which company makes the best running shoe(s) available today?
With me and at my age cold weather has a direct correlation to achy knees and joints.Do those energy drinks do a good work?
Something to add to the warm-ups, good stretching, and extra layers...The tensor bands are a good idea for during the run. What I do for my back (locks up on me in cold weather) is wrap it with heat while I'm getting ready for my run. This helps get my muscles warm and loose even before my warm-up. It doesn't work every time, but it does help. I have a hot/cold pack that wraps around and secures with velcro. I use it for 10-15 minutes each on my back and knees while I'm changing, stretching, and driving to the park.More Questions & Answers...
