I have just written to the local paper (the Borehamwod Times )asking for donations and sponsership and given them a link for payments which should be be printed in 7 days time see link:

Good luck! I think if you put a tad more on the sponsor form (something about the Brookside Boys Club and what they do maybe?), people might be more inclined to sponsor you.

What is track team in high school, how does it work, and how can you join?

they are a great idea
but make sure you do morethen just that
get out there and raise money yourself, try asking a local school to do a non school uniform day and give you the proceeds (easy few hundred there)
ask 5 members of family or friends to ask around at their work place (ask them t try raise 20 quid each there is another £100)
see if the charity you running for can borrow you a tshirt and donations bucket, set your self up on a busy shopping st and you will raise loads
