How many calories should i take before a long distance race?
YES! Finally someone who is at least beginning to understand how working out is done. All of the people who sit and do crunches are strengthening their abdomen but still complain about the fat in their midsection. You must loose the weight and crunches just do not do that. Running is a great way to lose that fat. When you want to firm it up you will have to do some crunches and sit ups though.Does anyone know what i good time for a mile run for a fourteen year old boy?
i dont know but i have the same problemWhat is world record time for running a mile?
It will help but you also have to eat healthy food. In other words you can't be running and eating McDonald's at the same time. Also, consider adding other exercises.Should i or shouldn't i have bunion surgery? i've heard many horror stories. thanks!?
yes it will help but doin crunches and other ab work outs will give your abs the extra boost.yes because it wont let fat accumulate around your stomach or anywhere else since you are burning it by running.
good luck.
I'm dreading going out for a run. How do you get yourself out the door?
If you want to help flatten your stomach, then do something to help strengthen your lower back muscles (spinus erectus). These muscles work in opposition to your abdominal muscles (abdominus erectus). If you have weak, lower back muscles, then your abdomen will pertrude to the front - kind of like a beer belly look. Running is great. You should also do some abdominal work (sit-ups, crunches, etc). But neither one of those two targets the lower back muscles, and you can't ignore those. Try doing push-ups and concentrate on your form (especially the "keeping the back straight" part). There are other exercises you can do as well. Just don't forget how the back and abdominal muscles work against one another.Novice running a half marathon?
YES!getting a flat stomach is based on losing body fat, not stregthening your ab muscles. Running and other arobic activities will help your body burn fat. And less fat means you see better muscle definition, including abs.
What are some things that coaches look for when choosing distance runners?
Of course it will, by running you'll be burning of more calories and as long as you eat less than you're burning off you'll lose fat, if you lose fat your stomach will get flatter. Crunches etc. will help to tone your abs once you've got rid of the fat covering them, but will do little visably until you've lost that fat. What you eat could be from McDonalds just as much as anywhere else, just make sure you eat less calories than you burn, everything in moderation is fine. I eat almost non-stop, and whatever nearest, which during the day is usually * (student) and I'm still losing fat - stopped losing weight a while ago, but fat percentage still lowering.Running will make you lose weight, but not neccecarely your stomach. Do ab workouts and crunches, that will get you a flat stomach!
How to improve my running speed?
not necessarly, running uses your core, so to get better at running doing core work, like push ups and crunches, will get you abs or a flat stomach.Getting faster in the mile and mile and a half??
Flat...YES.Toned up..NO.
I varied running and cycling. The thing I noticed about runners (not sprinters) was lack of definition / muscle tone.
The muscle tone of cyclists was as good as a sprinter. It is very common to see six pack abs in both (assuming same level of commitment).
Running definitely helps to reduce weight.
