What is the easiest way to start running for exercise?

I did one, I don't think you 'run' a Ironman, you do it. The run is just one event. I did it for the heck of it with 2 months of training, I was biking and running distance already so it was not that big of a jump.
I actually think that running a marathon is harder because you are pushing yourself with an all out effort. The Ironman for me was more about pacing through the whole day.
If I was an elite athlete the Ironman would be an all out effort, but I am not remotely elite so I just enjoyed the day and the accomplishment.

A great site for training plans and advice is Trinewbies.com, use the discussion board for advice.

Good Luck and enjoy!!!

Can you hold your breath while running track?

a friend of mine did one last year, she said it was the hardest thing shes ever done in her life.

forget winning, just focus on finishing. the winners spend 8 hours a day or more training for it, and have sponsors that can pay for all their training and equipment.
