Is this a good time for the 1000 for a freshman in college?

I ran a 2:34.6 1000 the other day and I am wondering if its a good time in comparison to the NCAA divison 2. And I want to get it down to 2:30-31 within the next few weeks what do you suggest I should do? For now ive been doin speed on mondays (ex 6x400 in sub 60/ 10x200 in sub 30) tuesday (12x400 at 80 non stop running) wed 5-6 miles) thursday (4x200 in sub 28) friday ( 30 min run) saturday- meets. What else could I add to this to get faster?

5 min mile?

One big thing that I see missing are long runs. Though lots of people say that there should be a day of rest during the week when you're running track or XC, my coach only lets us take off every once and a while, and my team is getting better and better every week. On Sundays, he has us go out and do LSD- Long Slow Distance. For a 1000 runner, you could start at an hour long run, then add about 10 minutes a week until you get around 90-100 min runs. During these runs, keep a relaxed pace (8 or so minute mile) and make sure you drink plenty of fluids before and after doing long runs. This helps your legs unwind, especially after a meet the previous day. You'll find that you're more productive and can run easier during your workout on Monday if you do a long run on Sunday. Make sure you run this by your coach though, because I'm only a high school runner, and he's the final word, not to mention he probably knows more than me.

How can I improve my running speed?

that is a really good time for 1000 meters but u should be doing more mileage and less intervals if u dont want to burn out. instead of an interval day replace one with a long run of about 10-12 miles

How fast can you run in 3 km?

2:34 is a good time for a freshman in college. Try running 800s and 1200s. I'd try to keep my 800s under 2:00 and try to be around 3:05 for 1200 meters. 800s for speed and 1200s for strength.

Good 40 yd time?

I recommend that you do a little more distance! This will get you a base. Your time is very good for a college freshman!! More speed will come naturally!! I would do 2 speed days a week until about 1 month before track season starts. Also do 400's, 300's and 200's . Hill repeats do very well too!
