I need a good time for a 1600 for jr. high?

Start running 400 intervals. That is, run a 400 at around 75-85 sec., walk 200 and then run another 400 at around the same time. Do this until you can string 8-400's together. You will start getting stronger and your running style will improve as you start to tire. This should help eliminate that sloppy or sluggish style when you are finishing the second 50 meters in the100. Good luck!

Whats the fastest way to get rid of your belly fat?

Maybe you just need more practicing on acceleration, so try to keep practicing, by setting a pace for your self don't go to fast but don't go to slow. So that way you'll go at the same speed for the entire 200m. Than once you het the hang of it, go at a faster speed. keep doing that because it helped me, when i use to be last at school but now i'm on the top 5. It might take a while to get use to but keep trying.

Is 15-16 seconds for the 100 meter dash a bad time for an 8th grade girl?

For acceleration we used to tie parachutes to our waist or have a shotputter stand holding a line so when you run you'd have that pressure against you and you'd learn to run through it, when the weights gone you'll simply go faster.

What do you think the roughest race is?

try wind sprints I did them and it made me faster. running at a higher elevation also helps.

I have flat feet, what can i do?

i'm guess that 55s just weren't what you were meant to run. your ability has a lot to do with your physiology, particularly muscle fiber types. keep doing resistance work, try and work on your time out of the blocks, and realize you may just be a 100m guy.

How should I...?

Start out more as a jog.

What does the "DC" in DCshoes stand for?

you should definitely work on block starts if you run with blocks.
with block starts, begin with 50m, then work up to 100m. when you're in the blocks, make sure that you're easily able to pull up your butt and lower back when stretching your legs at the "set" command. you should be leaning forward, feeling almost as if you're going to fall. when you hear the command for "go," or the gun, you should push the balls of your feet aggressively into the blocks and propel yourself with your lower leg. you'll need to take about 5 or so strides to move from the downward block position to an upright running position. these 5 steps are VERY important to be aggressive on.

to help with this aggressiveness, try doing starts on a small hill. start at a position where you're bent over slightly, as if starting without blocks, and come out just as if you were in them on the hill. if you do enough of these and good block starts (it might also be good to have somebody watch you), you'll be able to accelerate just fine.

to build up endurance for the 100 and 200, you should run 300-400m workouts (about 6 total 300s or 400s), ladders from 150m to 400m and back down (150, 200, 300, 400, 400, etc.), and J-runs (sprint the straightaway and jog the curve for about 3 laps, or you could also sprint the curve and jog the straightaway if you need extra practice for the start of the 200m).

btw...you can never start too fast. the start is part of what defines who is going to win. it helps you build up speed quickly for an advantage. with work, you'll be able to have that initial speed in addition to the endurance for the entire race.
