cross countrythe scenery is better and you feel like your going somewhere as opposed to just going round in circles
I plan to run my 1st 5k; what is a good finishing time ? a decent average finish line time ?
Well with track you have to wear a g-string due to the spectators and as for cross country, you can go without underwear and pee while you run.How do i do better in the high jump?
Most do both. Its distance running and you can run the long events in track. Track meets are very social events and you can meet a lot of cool people while hanging out waiting for your event to be called. AND all the people are in good shape and worth seeing. Cross country is cool too especially if you like to run in rural settings and overland in parks. Do both, one is a fall sport and the other a spring sport. Get two athletic letters and become good at a sport you can do the rest of your life to stay in shape. Football and basketball are team sports and ruin your legs and joints. Do both track and CC and it will keep you in shape year round. You will look good in your jeans year round.XC is much better...see, we're just all crazy, and we don't have to spend the entire time on the track, which, if you've spent any amount of time on the track, running 8 miles on it will drive you up the wall. Also, you can do so much more during a cross country practice, like go for bagels (which is not something Coach recomends, but...:)), or go trash picking on tree lawns, or play capture the flag in a parking garage (which almost got us arrested). Either way, it's just because XC is filled with real athletes.you don't have to be a good runner to run track; however, if you're not an ok runner, you'll never make it through an xc season alive.
in high school..definetely cross because it has better scenery, less pressure, you bond w/ your teammates more because there are less people, its warmer than track, and meets are shorter.
This is a really hard decision...
I'd have to say XC. The team becomes like a family, and some of my best friends have come from past XC teams. I love races moreso than track because theres so many more people at a time in an XC race than in a track race. The longer races allow for more strategy, and the finish line tastes so much sweeter.
Cross Country is much better, unless you enjoy running around in circles! It is also more challenging in terms of the different elements you will face. Some courses have hills, trail running, etc that you wouldn't normally encounter when running track.
For a 13 year old 5"6 female what are good times for the 100m sprint and the 800m run?
As you can see from the variety of the answers, the one you find most fun may have something to do with your personality and mental outlook.Track is more regimented and precise. The course is standardized and races are accurately measured and meticulously timed. If you are an intense detail person or someone who likes statistics and hard data with your running chances are track is your preference. Also, although track is techinically a "team" sport, there are so many events that people tend to focus more on their individual performance rather than the team over all, so if you are more of an "individualist" out to do your own thing you may like track.
Cross country is a lot looser and laid back. In high school, the courses are all "about 3 miles," but precise distance isn't easy to establish. Times are tracked but rarely does a hundredth (or even a tenth) of a second matter because the event is scored by finishing position it's more of a big picture event. If you are a more relaxed intuitive runner who enjoys a fluid racing dynamic then chances are you will prefer cross country. As was noted in another answer, cross country tends to provide an incredible team bonding experience. It has more of the feel of a team sport than track. If that feeling is important to you then you are also likely to favor cross country.
Of course these are generalizations and not every track or cross country team (or coach) will be the same, but you can use these generalizations as a guide to see which one to try first. Then you can try the other and see if you like it more.
Is anyone running the Miami Marathon next wee?
Hello,That depends how you define "fun". I loved cross-country (XC) in high school...but it was largely because of the people. When a team runs the same grueling workouts and races, they form a common bond. Everyone gets to run in XC and it takes 5 runners to score points...so it's a team effort, not individual.
That being said, Track is also a great sport and you have the excitement of the grandstand, bleachers and the variety of events. I ran all three (indoor & outdoor track + XC)...and I wouldn't have traded those experiences for the world! Have fun!

Whats the best womens running shoe for Nike ( thats all I wear)?
ehhhh u run track to get scholarship in college and not just for funtrack is NOT a sport for retards who want to lose weight!
Could I get faster in running if I sprint with 8 pound weights in each arm?
to begin i do agree with what someone said, most true runners do both cross country and track. but there is no doubt in my mind when i can say from the heart, cross country is so much better. Not only does it force you to strive for more but its just more entertaining. Who wants to run in circles for a race, why not run through meadows and woods and fields. Enjoy the scenary as you run. The best part is the feeling as you sprint towards the end lined by people screaming your name. Cross country is a much better sport compared to track. Running on a track is about as much fun as running on a treadmill.---James
Cross Country is more fun! You meet a lot more people from other Schools. There seem to be more energy. You go to a lot of better meets!! A lot of runners run for the fun of it!! You don't even have to be the fastest.Have you been to Mt. Sac, Woodard Park in Fresno for the State Meet in Ca.,Footlocker West in L.A. over 20,000 runners? That's why it is more fun!!
How many Americans regularly run?
cross country, I hate running in circles and going no whereToo young to run? What age to begin jogging?
BUT AGAIN I THOUGHTCross Country is much better, unless you enjoy running around in circles! It is also more challenging in terms of the different elements you will face. Some courses have hills, trail running, etc that you wouldn't normally encounter when running track.

Looking for a marathon training guide. I am running a full marathon at the beginning of Novemebr.?
I don't do either, but I would probably have to say cross country because you run on different grounds, you run longer and build yourself up more. Also, there's much more scenery.I am new to running. How many miles is 2K and 5K race?
XC! Track is boring for distance runners as you're relegated to going around in circles and just begging for the gun lap. Track is an essential complement to XC running though as the season will continue your training and keep you in shape. I always found XC to be more exciting for meets as well. They always featured crazy runners who were always fun to be around. Besides, running a 10k on the track is definitely nauseating!XC it's different course every time.
me personally i like both i mean maybe its because i run both and sense this is my freshmen yr in high school and I'm already on varsity i find it helpful to run both. because in Cross country u run up hills and on un even ground but running distance in track ur running on a flat serface but ur still running the same distance. besides it shouldn't matter what other people think about the sport u play it should only matter is if u like it and if u r good at it and enjoy what u r doing.
luv

Are the adidas a3 shoes warrantied?
I would think cross country is more fun. It seems like you would like seeing the scenery and meeting so many people. Plus you really don't need to be the best runner, and if your team wins state and you had nothing to do with it, you still get a state ring!Who's the best runner in the world?
I like both!well it all depends on how much you like running
if you like shorter distances like the mile, 800 or sprints then track is way better!
if you enjoy running three miles at a time, then cross country is probably better for you.
From experience, I would say that track is more fun, because there is more events to choose from, and your not out on a course for three miles at a time!
Is a 63.56 second 400meter dash good for an eigth grade girl?
XC no doubtI love track, since you can directly compare your position and times to anyone else in the world, unlike XC (different course / course conditions each time (mud, gravel, ect.))
However there's nothing like running races in the woods...the creeks, trees, and other surroundings make it very enjoyable
At my school, XC is a much smaller tight group that has much more fun :)
I love track too but I do get a liitle bit sick of running around the rubber oval after a while
