Running shoes?

I have to buy a pair of running shoes soon, can someone explain to me what each type of running shoe provides? Like the cushioned, motion control, performance training, spikes, and stability; what do they mean? Also what would be best for a beginning runner?

Cross country running...?

overpronator means your ankle rolls to the inside when you run. a motion control shoe can help prevent that.

but as to the rest, you should go to a running shoe store, and let them look at your feet and stride to find a shoe thats right for you. if you try to 'self diagnose' and buy on your own, you are likely to waste money and maybe hurt yourself.

London marathon - how can i get in this year?

if your running track defintly get spikes if yoyur just running in general you should get shoes like nike air or something similar to that

Can I still be good at running track this late in age?

It's very hard to choose a pair of running shoes. I would go to a specialty running store if at all possible, and ask for their advice. If you are only going to run less than 30 mins, 3x a week, then just go ahead and buy basic running shoes.

I want to get started on running but I don't know how.?

I highly recommend being "fitted" for a running shoe. A lot of athletic shoe stores have trained associates who watch you walk/run in your shoe and can recommend exactly the right shoe for your foot and gait. It is definately worth it to get the right shoe.

Should i run?

Hello,

Check out the link below. You can do a test where you take your bare foot, wet it, and then step on a brown paper bag. Compare the foot print to the chart on the link below and it'll help you choose the right running shoe for you. For a beginner runner, I would try on some trainers. I have a nuetral / narrow foot and the Nike Pegasus fits me well. Shoes are an individual thing...go with the best shoe for you. There's another link below with some beginner running tips...best of luck to you!

Is it possible to be a world class sprinter?

I can't speak for everyone else, and I don't know how your body structure is, but I job about 3 miles 3-4 times a week and a good brand name cross trainer is all I use.

Training for track..?

Footwear is the most important thing to invest in for running. If you plan on running any distance at all go to a professional running store. They will watch you walk to determine if your feet pronate or roll (eg more to the inside than the outside), how high your arches are, etc. Over-pronating can be serious stuff for a runner. I over pronate and ended up with a tibial stress fracture. When an over-pronator hits the ground with force over and over and the foot is not landing properly, it puts you at risk to get a small stress fracture in your bone further up because your foot/leg is not lining up properly on impact. The stress fracture kept me out of the running game for a few months and I have since been to see a podiatrist and now wear orthodics. Listen to your body!

Good luck and have fun running!
