How long do jogging shoes last unused and in the closet?

Does the cushioning deteriorate with time?

Answers:

Which runnig shoe should I choose ?

No, the cushion does not deteriorate if you do not use the shoes.

Before I started running, I bought a pair of cute Reebok DMXs. They didn't feel good for everyday stuff, so I put them away.

Years later, after I started running, I found them and used them. They are my best street shoes for running!

I have been running in them for almost 2 years, and the cushion is starting to wear.

What is the world record for the 800 meter race?

When you're using the shoes, you're supposed to change them every 6 months. If you haven't been using them and they've been stored in a clean, dry, place, you should be able to use them like new. If they've been stored in rough conditions, though, I'd sell them on eBay and start over :-) Happy running!

What should i eat RIGHT before a race?

Some of the materials will lose their elasticity over time (dry rot). I wouldn't discard them right away. Try them and see. If they feel uncomfortable, or if you notice any joint pain...replace them. Running shoes for distance runners should be replaced every 400 miles or if they show excessive wear. Good luck!

Sprint start?

Long Time, just keep em' in the box and you're good to go. They aren't cars where sitting a long time effects them, THEY"RE SHOES for crying out loud. ;)
