For distance running, the key is to have consistent speed. The mile is one of my races, and during practice, I'll have a hard work-out that is timed, or I'll go on a run. Running at the same pace for 30-40 minutes a day will really help with endurance. As for speed, it will come once you've done the mile a few times. Endurance is the key! If you want faster mile times, build your endurance up. Run a mile daily and you will gradually get faster and faster because you are building your endurance up and you will be able to run with full speed for a longer period of time. Running is mind of matter. Work your body but also work your mind. You have to mentally conquer your mile. Control your breathing and be smart.Practicing on grass may help

my track coach always did this one drill called 60 second drills.(its the best around a track but u can do it anywere)..ok u start off jogging about like 65-75 % for 45 seconds then u sprint 100% for 15 seconds then go back to jogging for 45 then sprinting 15 ...its a good way to build up enduranceMore Questions & Answers...
