Is it too late for me to run in this upcomming Philladelphia Marathon?
If you want to do it right, use baking soda.Baking soda absorbs both taste and color stains.
Take 3 tablespoons of baking soda, and a cup of water. Dump both the water and the baking soda in at the same time. Shake it for a few seconds so it mixes well, then take a soft scrubber or brush and clean out the insides and the cracks.
The baking soda will leave no taste or white marks, provided you rinse it with clean water.
When the CamelBak is left wet, the bacteria in the water will multiply within a short time. Do yourself a favor by dumping the excess water after your run, and stuff a hand towel in it and leave it there until the next time.
When I run or bike, I like to keep my water and Gatorade reserves separate. This way the water always tastes like water, and is never stained.
They sell a scrubber that you can put into the bladder..i have one and it works great! You don't have to use the tablets...
How can I run faster and cut off time in my mile?
Hello,I, too, use a CamelBak for my long training runs. I just use some mild hand soap and warm water and flush it out a few times. I used to use dish soap, but even the faintest taste would make me nauseous (not a good thing at mile 20 ;-). Good luck!

If, for some reason, you really need to sterilize your camelback, fill it with water all the way put a very tiny amount of bleach in- just a drop or two. You can let this stand for a little while, maybe a few hours. The chlorine will kill any bacteria that you need to worry about. But the most important thing- RINSE IT OUT! A LOT! No body wants to be drinking bleach- it's pretty nasty stuff. So rinse it and dry and even repeat a couple of times if you can. In the end you should have a clean water bladder.
Honestly though, if you are only putting water in the thing and not introducing any foreign substances, then the bladder will stay clean on its own. The mouthpiece is a different story.
